Microsoft could end up bringing its Edge browser to Android and iOS
Table of contents:
It's only been a little over a year since Redmond introduced us to its latest operating system: Windows 10. A bet that came loaded with novelties and among which not only the change of the interface stands out, but also the appearance of Cortana and a new browser: Microsoft Edge.
And although the objective of the latter was to compete with others of the stature of Chrome and Firefox, the truth is that it is not having it easy. The delays in the appearance of the extensions, the intrusive messages recommending their use and the like have not been seen with good eyes either. A context in which the multinational is not willing to give up.In fact, it seems to be considering porting it to the two most popular mobile operating systems: Android and iOS.
The possible landing
Thus, and in order to put an end to this slow adoption, the appearance in these OS could be a solution. At least that can be assumed from the message posted on Twitter by Fahad Al-Riyami, one of the strategists of the technological giant; that he has started asking users of the microblogging platform to participate in a survey asking them if they would like this to happen, that is, if they think it would be useful to have Edge on their mobile.
“I've seen many requests for Microsoft Edge to be on Android and iOS. Is it something you would like to see?", can be read. So far, 85% of those who have participated have said yes, while only 15% have clicked the negative option.A priori, however, there are no participation or similar data.
By clicking to participate, the social network automatically redirects us to a Microsoft forum whose origins date back to early August of last year, shortly after Redmond's first publicized Windows 10 and the browser that came with it by default. The conversation currently has up to 7 pages (at the time of writing these lines), and with interventions in which users directly request to the entity that include browser on Android and iOS.
In short, and although the company initially stated that it had no plans to bring Microsoft Edge to these operating systems – they explained that they wanted it to work perfectly on Windows and that they would not consider other possibilities until after a while Looks like he's changing his mind. Something that does not surprise us if we take into account the efforts it has made to improve the tool at hand.
