Microsoft boasts about the performance of its browser
Yesterday we discussed which were some (but not all) of the most used and installed applications by buyers or users of a new Windows computer. And among all of them, one stood out above the rest; Google Chrome, it was the star browser on the market.
A product that Mac OS users install despite having Safari and Windows users although they already have Internet Explorer, which has given way to Edge in Windows 10. And it draws attention in this case because the Redmond browser is (in theory and according to Microsoft) more than solvent, something they demonstrate in a recent video.
We already saw weeks ago how from Microsoft they compared it with Firefox, Opera or Chrome and of all, the worst unemployed was Chrome. Leaving aside the controversies that may arise due to the biased interest or not of the studies (each manufacturer demonstrates with tests that their product is the best) the latest videos of those from Redmond call attention
More precisely, these are two new videos with which they try to demonstrate that Microsoft Edge in the version offered by the Anniversary UpdateIt uses less power than Chrome and incidentally is a better option than others like Firefox and Opera.
A test they have conducted on four Surface Books using Netflix to view video in Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Chrome, and Opera and with the results that you have under these lines.
- Edge allows 8 hours and 47 minutes of autonomy
- Opera allows 7 hours and 8 minutes of autonomy
- Chrome allows 6 hours and 3 minutes of autonomy
- Firefox allows 5 hours and 11 minutes of autonomy
According to these figures Microsoft Edge wins with a clear difference over Firefox, which is the last one, achieving 69% more autonomy . It also improves Chrome by 45% more and Opera by 23%. And in case things were not clear, they made a second video, now using Vimeo and achieved these results.
- Edge achieves 13 hours and 25 minutes of autonomy
- Chrome achieves 12 hours and 8 minutes of autonomy
- Opera achieves 9 hours and 37 minutes of autonomy
- Firefox achieves 8 hours and 16 minutes of autonomy
In this case history repeats itself and it was clear that the place of honor would go to Edge and in this sample again the worst stopped is Firefox.Chrome is now the second most efficient, and thus we find figures in which, according to Microsoft, Edge is 11% more efficient than Chrome, 40% more than Opera and 62% more than Firefox.
Some good figures, this is clear, but let's remember that after all they are nothing more than studies or tests carried out by an interested party (as if Google does it with Chrome or Opera with its browser) so the results were never going to be bad. In the end, the ball remains in the court of the user who installs the browser that is most useful to him In my case I get wet and yes, I use Chrome but what about you? What browser do you use?_
