Microsoft's presence grows in importance within the education sector
When we talk about sales, about the presence of operating systems, we almost always talk about the domestic sector and the business field and we do so neglecting a very important sector such as education, what in fact is increasingly important for companies, as in this case, Microsoft.
We all know the great work that Apple is doing in this regard, especially with the iPad, the tablet best known for generality of users and that without neglecting the growing presence of Google Chromebooks and at this point, Where is Microsoft?
Redmonds cite report discussing increase in classrooms and within the general educational environment of Windows-based PCs , achieving sales of 2 to 1 compared to its closest competitor, which without mentioning it, we all imagine.
Good figures, but they do not express clearly what Microsoft penetration is if we compare it with the Chromebook or the iPad within of the sector, since traditional computers and that show how the manufacturers, in this case Microsoft, see in education a prominent niche to increase their sales.
"According to the study, Microsoft is the clear global market leader, reaching 47 percent of the computer operating system market in the fourth quarter of 2015."
The great education market, a target in sight
And it is that education is an increasingly sweet market for manufacturers, with a greater presence of all kinds of gadgets, especially computers, tablets and smartphones designed to facilitate learning and teaching.
This is evident just by looking at some figures that speak of more than 1,500 million students and teachers worldwide , which cause manufacturers to turn their heads to an environment that has not classically been preferred for many companies.
"In addition, from Futuresource they explain how the decrease in prices, the increase in product customization, the digitization of educational content and a growing trend towards government investment in ICT in the field education, are combining to develop market demand significantly."
We will have to see how Microsoft's presence in the classroom evolves with the arrival and establishment of Windows 10 and proposals as interesting as Continuum, which, if it manages to penetrate among students and educators, could be an important boost for the penetration of those from Redmond in education.
