When I installed Windows 10 on my laptop, one of the first things I did was test Microsoft Edge, as it was one of the features I was most looking forward to in this new version. And the first two problems I had was that I didn't know how to set Google as default search engine and how to get me Firefox bookmarks here

How to configure Google in Microsoft Edge

If we want to use Google as the main search engine of our browser, the first thing we must do is go to “google.com”, and there click on the favorite star.

Once this is done, we will go to the three dots located in the upper right corner of the browser, and select “Settings” .

Then we scroll down until we find “View advanced settings”, and then we continue down until we find “Search address bar with”, where Bing should be. There we will click and select “” .

In this window we must select the browser we want to use by default If we perform the first step correctly, Google should be there to select. It is important to note that this also works for Yahoo, in case we use that browser.

Click on Google, and then on the “Add” button. And ready! With this we will have Google configured as the default browser.

How to import bookmarks from Firefox or Google Chrome to Microsoft Edge

The second thing we're probably going to want to do is bring all the bookmarks from Firefox or Google Chrome to Microsoft Edge. If we want to bring from Google Chrome it is very simple, since we simply have to go to “Settings”, then “Import bookmarks from another browser”, and select Chrome.

When we accept we will have everything in the favorites bar. The problem with Firefox, as Microsoft Edge currently does not support importing bookmarks via HTML.

To import bookmarks and favorites from Firefox to Microsoft Edge, what we can do is take them to Google Chrome, and from there perform the previous steps to have them in the new browser.

To import from Google Chrome, go to the “Hamburger Menu” in the upper right corner of the browser, to “Bookmarks” , and then to “Import Bookmarks and Settings” .

Select Mozilla Firefox, and click on “Import”. Then we repeat the method discussed at the beginning of this section of the article.

In case we do not have Google Chrome installed, unfortunately we are going to have to download it since there is no other way to do it.
