Microsoft now lets you use Bitcoins to buy apps
Great and surprising news for the world of digital money: Redmonds have added support for without prior notice load money with Bitcoins in our Microsoft Account This means that with just a couple of clicks we can convert Bitcoins, stored in wallet software, into balance to buy applications, games, music, movies, buy Xbox Music subscriptions, buy Skype minutes, OneDrive storage, etc.
The operation is extremely simple, we just have to go to the Manage payment options section within the account settings, once there we select the Microsoft account option and click on Add more in the panel the right. There we will be allowed to choose a balance to add between 10 and 100 dollars, although we assume that it is possible to repeat the procedure several times to add higher balances. Then press Accept, which will show us a box like the following."
There the equivalent in Bitcoins of the balance we want to add is indicated, and we are given options to transfer the required amount using applications supported wallets.
Unfortunately, for now the use of Bitcoins is only allowed by loading a balance beforehand, and then using that balance. It is not possible to purchase products or services directly using Bitcoins, but the official version of Microsoft in this regard suggests that this possibility may soon exist,
Also it seems that there are geographic restrictions as well.In my case, I have no problem loading money with an account associated with the United States, but when using an account associated with Chile, the option disappears. For now there is no official information on which are the territories where support for Bitcoins will be available ( although it is possible to change the location of an account by following the second part of the instructions we gave here).
What do you think of this Redmond move? Would you load money into a Microsoft account using Bitcoins? Are they more likely to use Bitcoins now that they are supported by Microsoft?
