Bing tries to predict Grammy winners
We have already commented here on several occasions about how accurate the Bing predictions These predictions are made by Microsoft based on of sophisticated mathematical-economic models that are nourished by search data made by users and metrics collected from the media and social networks, among other inputs.
Based on the above, Bing was able to predict 15 of 16 World Cup matches this year, the vast majority of which US election results, Dancing with the Stars finalists, and Premier League and NFL resultsBut in Redmond they want to go for more, so they have put Bing's predictive models to work to elucidate what will be the trends that will mark 2015 in terms of fashion , food, sports, music, and more.
In fashion, turtlenecks and other styles typical of the 70s would predominate again, such as bell-bottoms. The pastel colors and flowery patterns will also be in force, both in Europe and Latin America (as long as we're not all out wearing crocs, I think everything is fine) .
2015 will bring us a lot of clothes with turtlenecks, a large consumption of Kebabs and Paninis, and trips to Paris, London, Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro.
And not content with predicting trends in those areas, the Bing team also places its bets on the winners of the Golden Globes and Grammy Awards, which will take place on January 11 and the February 8, respectively.
According to Bing, the Golden Globe for best picture would go to the film Boyhood, while the award for best actor would go to Eddie Redmaynefor The Theory of Everything, and Best Actress would go to Julianne Moore, for her performance in Still Alice.
At the Grammys, Bing Predicts tells us that the winning song for Record of the Year will be Fancy, by Iggy Azalea The Grammy for Best Album of the Year would go to Beyoncé, for her self- titled album, while Breakthrough Artist would be Sam Smith , known for songs like Stay With Me.
The 2015 Super Bowl champion, to be played on February 1, would be the team New England Patriots.
And when it comes to technology, which is the topic that is closest to us in this blog, Microsoft predicts that wearables will be the most popular trend in almost all the continents, except in Latin America, where digital assistants like Cortana and Siri take first place. Other relevant trends during the year will be 3D printing, virtual reality gaming (which Microsoft itself might already be preparing something for), andhome automation, a topic you can find much more information on our sister blog, Xataka Smart Home
But despite the fact that wearables will be the most relevant trend, Bing predicts that it will be Apple that will lead that market during 2015 , with the Apple Watch being the device of this type that will generate the most interest on all continents. The Microsoft Band will be ranked 5th in popularity in North America and Asia Pacific, 4th in Latin America, and an interesting third place in Europe, even above the Motorola Moto 360, which I don't think is bad for a product where not even remotely the same marketing effort has been put in as the one made by the apple company.
In the link at the end you can consult the official page of Bing Predicts, where there are more detailed statistics on each of these topics.
What do you think about these predictions? Do you think Bing will continue its winning streak of accurate predictions? What other topics would you like Microsoft to make forecasts on?
