Surface is already profitable and Windows sales rise: Microsoft financial results
Like every quarter, this month it was Microsoft's financial report, and although this time it doesn't break profit records, it does bring some good news. The first, the most striking: Surface is already profitable After two years of losses, this quarter Microsoft has entered $908 million thanks to Surface Pro 3. That yes, they don't say what the net benefits are.
The data on Windows licenses is also interesting. In consumer devices, offering licenses for free has seen the number of licenses sold grow at a loss of only 1% in revenue.
"Phones and consoles join the good news. 9.3 million Lumia sold (5.6% more than last year) and double Xbox sales, 2.4 million Adding it all up, the Devices & Consumer division has earned 47% more to reach 10.960 million dollars."
The part of commercial services also increased by 10% to 12,280 million dollars, with a spectacular growth of 128% in the cloud part: Azure, Office 365 and Dynamics. Below we leave you the table with the data by divisions (all in millions of dollars).

Of course, it's all a boost to Microsoft's new strategy. The purchase of Nokia is not going wrong at all, it seems that they have finally succeeded with Surface and have also known how to respond well with low-cost or even free Windows licenses. Also, the cloud is still Microsoft's great wild card along with business services, allowing you to experiment without too much trouble. In short, results that show that in Redmond are more alive than ever
