IFA 2014: What to expect from Microsoft and its ecosystem during this event?
Table of contents:
- Nokia Lumia 830, the cheapest option of the 930
- Nokia Lumia 730, a mid-range highlighted by selfies
- Archos also joins Windows Phone and Windows 8.1
- A smart watch
- And hopefully a glimpse of Windows 9, Office Touch, or Surface Mini
- A good week
From September 5 to 10 of the same month (or for the press, from September 3), begins one of the events that could easily be classified as one of the most important of the year in terms of technology.
Being the last quarter of the year, and with Christmas approaching, companies take the opportunity to present their products to target sales for that season. And just as Apple presents its iPhone 6, or Samsung its Galaxy Note 4, Microsoft and its ecosystem also have some products to show the public.
Nokia Lumia 830, the cheapest option of the 930
And although in the previous generation the Lumia 820 seemed not to find its place in the market, during the new generation Microsoft wants to make it clear that the 830 is a more accessible product for those who still want a high-end experience.
With a design that greatly imitates the Nokia Lumia 930, this terminal would have a 4.7 or 4.5-inch screen ( although we would bet it is the first), a camera of 20.1 megapixels with PureView technology, 8GB internal storage with Micro SD slot to increase it, and Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1.
And the price would be about 399 euros or 520 dollars to change. Assuming that's the price with taxes, it's an interesting deference compared to the 549 euros that the Lumia 930 costs.

Now we are missing the option for those who want a mid-range with Windows Phone. The good thing about this terminal is that Microsoft has decided to make it stand out for something as simple but at the same time relevant as the ability to take good selfies.
The Lumia 730 would pack a 4.7-inch screen with 720p resolution, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM (at Unlike the 512MB of the Lumia 720), 8 GB of internal storage with expansion by MicroSD cards.
And as for the cameras –most importantly– we have a 6.8 megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel front camera with Carl Zeiss lenses .
It is assumed that we can get this entire package for an attractive 240 dollars, leaving it at a good level of products like the Moto G (or its update).
Archos also joins Windows Phone and Windows 8.1
The French company also wants to participate in what is being handled in the Microsoft ecosystem, since a few days ago a rumor came out that it would have two products to present.
One of them is the Archos 40 Cesium, a $99 device that goes straight to the low-end Windows Phone 8.1 We count with a 4-inch screen and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor. Clearly it is a product that wants to make a place for itself next to the Lumia 530.
Then for Windows 8.1 we have the Archos 80 Cesium, a low-end tablet that would have an 8-inch IPS screen with resolution of 1280x800 pixels, an as yet unknown quad-core Intel processor, and a competitive price of $149
A smart watch
The possibility of Microsoft introducing a smart watch to the market has been rumored for some time. And as several companies have already shown their bets for the year, IFA 2014 could be a very good time for Microsoft to present theirs.
It is not known very well what this device will bring. It is said that instead of a watch it would be more like an interactive bracelet based on the design and way of using it. Ultraviolet radiation and glucose sensors would also be included to help us be more attentive to our he alth.
It is said that in addition to Windows Phone, it will also will be compatible with Android and iOS. This will make your layout more diverse and not one-sided.
And hopefully a glimpse of Windows 9, Office Touch, or Surface Mini
With less probability of that happening, there is the chance that Microsoft will show three novelties that details have been awaited for a long time.
Windows 9 would be the next version of the operating system that would better unify Windows RT and 8 (and even Windows Phone). And although it is said that a single event would be held by the end of September, perhaps Microsoft will show us some detail to generate speculation for its next presentation.
Office Touch is another application that has been long awaited. If real, the version will surely be Android, which was accelerated over Windows 8/RT for market reasons.
And finally, Surface MiniThere was a lot of talk about this product earlier this year, and when we expected it to appear during the Surface Pro 3 unveiling, all our expectations fell to the floor when we realized not only that it was not revealed, but because of the news that the product was not yet ready.
Maybe IFA 2014 will be the ideal moment to present it.
A good week
September personally is my favorite month in terms of technology, because along with the presentation of Apple that always generates controversy, we have the market bets of all the other companies.
And this year, thanks to the unification of Microsoft with Nokia and the new command of the ship in the hands of Satya Nadella, we will surely see a very interesting IFA 2014 .
