A question of sizes

In recent days there have been rumors about the new products that Microsoft may present next May 20 at the press event about Surface in the city of New York, or in the following weeks, multiply and walk unsuspected paths.

That is, a full-fledged classic “ hype ”.

New devices, new formats

Right now, it is almost certain that the new Surface Mini will be presented, a 7 or 8-inch device that will use Windows 8.1 RT and that will run on a Qualcomm processor.

In addition, internet rumors indicate that the new Surface PRO 3 may also be revealed, with a new Intel Haswell processor - I suppose it could be the arrival of the expected version with an i7 – or, even, a version of the Surface Mini with an Intel core (Atom or Haswell).

There is even talk that the Surface Pro3, or a similar device to come later, may have increased in size to become a 12” tablet geared towards power rather than bass energy consumption, as it is currently.

And I go back to imagining a Surface PRO with 8Gb and an i7 that allows me to "dock" the tablet and start doing tasks that require computing power such as photo retouching, programming, video editing, etc.

Beyond any ARM tablet

In addition to the operating system itself (RT 8.1), what sets it apart from the crowded mini-tablet market is the inclusion of a high-end digital pen quality – from Wacom – and integration with the excellent OneNote program.

Also, if the rumor that its price will be around $300-$400 turns out to be true, it could be that Microsoft have a "star" product that gives a much-needed boost to the Windows RT market, which only has the Surface 2 and Nokia 2520 as representatives after the disbandment of manufacturers.

There are only five days to go, but the wait is going to be long.

In Xatakawindows | Week of rumors around Surface Mini and the presence of Intel at the event on May 20, Microsoft will broadcast its event on May 20 live and in it it could present Surface Pro 3 together with the Surface Mini, Microsoft would also have a Surface of 12 inches to present
