Windows in Short: Virtual Reality
It cannot be said that this week has been lazy. In addition to everything related to the mobile system (more leaks about Windows Phone 8.1, announcements for the Build 2014 or videos of new phones) we have had our share of the special Goodbye to Windows XP, with the first part of the history of the system and a interview with Fernando Calvo, head of Windows and Surface at Microsoft Spain.
Even so, there have been things that we have missed or that we have not been able to deal with, news that we are going to review now in our section Windows in shortso that whatever happens you don't miss anything.
- Facebook's purchase of Oculus Rift is the news of the month. How is Microsoft going to deal with this new wave of virtual reality? Well, for now, they are skeptical of prototypes that do not convince them excessively.
- Satya Nadella likes her. At least that's what emerges from the impressions various analysts had of his first appearance as CEO, according to ComputerWorld.
- Microsoft is a monster of patents. The latest deal has been with Dell, an exchange: Dell will be able to use Microsoft patents for its Android and Chrome OS devices in exchange for licensing some of its own to Redmond for use on the Xbox.
- Not everything in the Windows world is technology and products. Ethics and good practices also have their place, and precisely because of these efforts, Microsoft holds a position on the list of Most Ethical Companies in America for the fourth consecutive year .
- OneNote already has a public API since last week. In accordance with the company's new strategy, they have published the roadmap with their next plans to open a dialogue with developers and thus improve integration with third-party applications.
- The Nokia Lumia Icon has gone through GSMArena's battery tests and hasn't fared too well, especially when compared to the Lumia 1520.
- And finally, one of Office. No matter how much iWork, Google Docs or QuickOffice is presented, Microsoft's suite is still the best known and most complete, and there is the top number of downloads from the Apple App Store to prove it.
So much for this week's compilation. Next week we will return with more links, and before we leave we remind you that you can send us our suggestions through the contact mailbox.
