Tomorrow will be BUILD 2014, the event carried out by Microsoft where services, technologies, and products will be presented with your logo. Undoubtedly, and after the Mobile World Congress –where nothing was presented for us–, many of us must be looking forward to the news that Microsoft and Nokia have for us.
And as a summary, we comment below all the important things that we could see in this event, which will last from 2 to April 4.
Finally, Windows Phone 8.1
In recent months there have been many rumors, images, and videos about Windows Phone 8.1, the new update to Microsoft's mobile operating system. And of course, at BUILD 2014 it is expected to be made public.
As for the expected news, we have the –expected– notification center, the Cortana voice assistant, the new backgrounds for the tiles, VPNs, and many, many other news.
Windows Phone 8.1 is expected to be the version that both users and developers deserve to have. But of course, the operating system comes along…
New Nokia smartphones, and maybe from some other company
Of course, something new has to show up with Windows Phone 8.1, and that's what Nokia is for. The Finnish company would have two smartphones to present: Nokia Lumia 630 and Nokia Lumia 930. But there is a problem with these two.
Apparently, and according to a latest rumor, Nokia would only present the Lumia 630, while the Lumia 930 would be kept for another own event at the end of April. This, if it comes true, is bad news for all those who hope to see the new high-end of the Finnish company.
But imagining that won't happen, the Nokia Lumia 930 is expected to be a version similar to the Nokia Lumia Icon: display 5-inch FullHD, much more rectangular design, Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 20-megapixel Pureview camera, and more.
As for the Nokia Lumia 630, it would go for the low-medium range of products, since it would have a 4.5-inch screen, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM, Dual SIM, and a new, more rectangular design. It should be mentioned that, in addition, Nokia seems to have removed the LED Flash from the camera.
And the other companies? Well, for a short time it was thought that the new Samsung Ativ SE would appear in BUILD 2014, but since the latest rumor says that it would bring Windows Phone 8 out of the box, doesn't make much senseto present it at this event and then say it won't come with the new version.
HTC had its moment of glory just over a week ago with the introduction of the HTC One M8. And days later, it was also commented that the Taiwanese company was making the Windows Phone version of its new terminal. But the chances of it showing up in BUILD 2014 are very low.
And finally, due to the announcement of the inclusion of emerging market companies like Karbonn, Solo, Foxconn, Gionee, JSR, Longcheer, and Xolo to Windows Phone, maybe we'll see something from them. It may even show the smartphone with Windows Phone from the French company Ucall.
The officialization of Windows 8.1 Update 1
We have already seen a lot about the new update of Microsoft's operating system and the news that it would have. And during BUILD 2014, Microsoft is expected to make it public.
What's new in this update corresponds, in large part, to the improvement of the interface and the integration of Modern UI for desktop computers desktop or laptops. For tablets, we have some new features such as the storage manager and the reduction of minimum specifications.
On the other hand, also Microsoft is expected to clarify what is the version of “Windows 8.1 with Bing” (Windows 8.1 with Bing ). Several outlets commented that this would actually be a free or cheaper version of the operating system, with integrated Bing services. At first the idea is not bad, but we will see how it is implemented.
Surface Mini? The possibility is
And finally, we have to talk about the Surface. Actually there is not much to comment on this, because the rumors were not entirely strong, but the possibility, as the title says, "is." It has long been rumored that a Surface Mini might be on the way, but there has been no comment on this since.
Anyway, the event lends itself well to being presented by Microsoft as a showcase of how Windows 8.1 works on lower-spec devices.
What is known is that this tablet would have an 8-inch screen and Kinect technology in the camera.
An event for us
If maybe at the Mobile World Congress we want to see something with Windows Phone, during these three days that BUILD 2014 lasts we can get the urge .
There will be plenty to see, and something for everyone, from smartphone fans to people interested in software. And of course, in Xataka Windows we will be aware of everything that is presented in this important event.
