Finally habemus CEO at Microsoft: Satya Nadella

Microsoft has confirmed that they have found a successor to Steve Ballmer as CEO of the company. From the list of names they managed, they finally ended up with Satya Nadella.

In this way, the head of Microsoft's Cloud and Enterprise division will take an important leap by assuming command of the Redmond company in full internal restructuring. In addition to having a new CEO, it has also been said that Bill Gates will also be a technology advisor.

Microsoft's third CEO: Satya Nadella

Satya Nadella has been with Microsoft since 1992, previously with Sun Microsystems. He has held various roles at Microsoft from his initial position as Vice President of R&D in the Online Services division through the Microsoft Business division and finally as President of the Servers and Business Tools division.

Nadella's work in this last position has been notorious as he has managed to integrate database services, server platforms and developer tools into Microsoft's ambitious Cloud Computing platform, azure.

Under his tenure, this division became key both in business development and in one of the pillars of Microsoft's profitability, and it is interesting to see how he applies that vision to the rest of the company.

The candidates for the position of CEO of Microsoft came from different backgrounds, although some had Stephen Elop -ex-CEO of Nokia- in mind as one of the most likely due to the relevance of mobile devices . However, at Microsoft they have been consistent with their restructuring message last year as Nadella comments:

The company wants to become a device and services business, which makes someone with experience in the cloud more than enough arguments to lead that transformation.
