Sinofsky's refusal of a touch-enabled Windows 7 could have pitted him against Ballmer
Rumors and speculation about the unexpected departure of Steven Sinofsky from Microsoft continue to be the order of the day. It is not for less, being the former manager the main person in charge of Windows 8 and Surface and having spent a few days after the release of both. If early reports pointed to past differences for which Sinofsky was already in the spotlight, new reports point to more recent conflicts over the turnaround in the company's strategy regarding Windows.
The definitive problems, according to sources quoted by the ExtremeTech newspaper, began to arise due to Steve Ballmer&39;s efforts to add touch support to Windows 7to prepare it for the tablet world and the refusal of the until recently president of the Windows division in the company. Ballmer had some proposals for tablets provided by major Microsoft partners and did not want to wait for a new version of the operating system."
Sinofsky on the other hand, of which the way in which it protected Windows and the difficulty of working with it has already been commented,I didn't think Windows 7 was touch-ready since it was designed from the beginning with keyboard and mouse in mind. With that stance he may have been missing an opportunity to quickly enter the tablet market, but Sinofsky would have proven his worth earlier. Windows 7 is probably the best version of the operating system and the man who ran the division in charge of it must have had something to do with it.
All in all, this information is a new variable to be introduced into a debate in which we still have many unknowns. With the operating system in full transition to a new format and a new user experience, few things raise more doubts than the fact that its main manager in recent years has left the company or has been directly invited to leave. If the exit is the result of a fight between Ballmer and Sinofsky, only time will tell us who is the first of the two in lament
