Purple Day in Visual Studio 2012
Long Zheng, author of the excellent iStarted Something blog, offers us a curious insight into the recent Visual Studio 2012 launch event held in Seattle on September 13, where he puts the accent onthe thoroughness with which the folks at Microsoft have prepared all the details, however minuscule they may seem.
The whole new IDE, really is much more than this, revolves around one core color: purple. From the start icon, logos, status bar when in ready state. The Solution icon, etc.
This color is also present in the marketing, presentation and packaging of the product. This can be seen on the What's New in Visual Studio website, where purple is present in all sections. In the posters presenting the product, in the physical boxes where the DVD can be purchased, and in any promotion or sale of the same.
But, and here we return to the event in Seattle, the attention to detail that is reflected in Zheng's article, has caught my attention.
The fact that the poster of the event, or the slides of the presentations had this prominent color in their graphic palette, makes sense. Things start to get curious when you look at the corridors and the auditorium carpeted in the same color, with matching furniture, and even theplants ornament maintaining chromatic coherence while everything is illuminated with purple spotlights.
The level of detail goes up a notch when we look at the images of the food offered to attendees. Cocktails, ice cream cones, and even purple donuts, all laid out on clerical-colored tablecloths. But what has blown my mind are the cupcakes with the Visual Studio logo and titleā¦in purple!
put me a box pleaseA great job by an excellent shadow team, for an ephemeral event, to whom I want to pay tribute and respect for showing that in all fields se you can do something extraordinary if we strive to do our best.
