They manage to drag and open files with the Taskbar in Windows 11 but we will not see it in the October launch
Table of contents:
I have to admit that Windows 11, in general, I like a lot, but the taskbar is perhaps the aspect that I use on a day-to-day basis that I like the least. Apart from the normal failures of a beta, we found the impossibility to move it, change the size or drag the icons to open applications are to blame for the low acceptance. That's at least what Dev Channel build 22458 makes us think.
A Build released last week in which Microsoft is teasing the possibility of allowing users to drag and drop files or folders into an applicationas the Registry Editor on the taskbar. In our tests, we were able to drag and drop a folder to the taskbar and pin it to the File Explorer jump list, as shown in the following screenshot.
Taskbar Functions
User complaints focus on the features lost by the Taskbar and if before it was enough to drag a file to the bar to be able to pin or open it, this changed with Windows 11. In fact, it is something that will almost certainly remain the same when Windows 11 is released."
These features were possible in earlier versions of Windows but disappeared with Windows 11. A handy way to pin shortcuts to files or folders on the bar or open files in some applications. In Windows 11, if we want to carry out this action, a warning appears indicating that it is not possible.
A deliberate decision on the part of Microsoft that looks will not be fixed in the first version of Windows 11. In fact, only those who test the latest version of Cabal Dev, the one that prepares the update that will arrive in 2022,
"In build 22458, Microsoft re-enables dragging and dropping files into an application such as the registry editor on the taskbar. In Windows Latest have managed to drag and drop a folder onto the Taskbar>"
It's just a wink for now, perhaps based on user feedback, but it bodes well to regret that it may return in the future the ability to drag and drop the taskbar in Windows 11.
Also, isn't the only feature you've seen disappear with the jump from Windows 10 to Windows 11. There are several functions that have disappeared with the change of operating system that users are already missing:
- Drag and drop functionality has been lost.
- The taskbar is locked at the bottom and cannot be moved or resized.
- The seconds of the clock on the taskbar no longer appear
- The context menu no longer allows you to access options such as the Task Manager.
- Windows 11 disables the integration of events in the calendar dropdown.
- The taskbar does not allow you to ungroup items.
