Windows 11 shows for some users a time indicator that warns how long it will take to update a computer
Table of contents:
Windows 11 has arrived bringing various improvements and new features and among all the new that has arrived, there are some improvements that have been overlooked. That is the case of the new system that will warn users about the approximate time it may take to install an update
This is a case that we have all suffered and it doesn't matter if you use macOS or Windows, although in the latter case it is more bloody. The indicative time indicator to know how long an update will take is usually very unreliable and the changes in the remaining minutes are constant, hence 9 minutes can be convert to 30 actual minutes. And that is what Windows 11 comes to correct or at least try to.
It is indicative and has room for improvement
We can find smooth and fast updates and others that run very slowly, and that is if there is no problem. Situations that Microsoft wants to put an end to in Windows 11, as the new version of the operating system will allow us to know how long an update will takeā¦ more or less.
Panos Panay stated during the Windows 11 announcement, that Windows 11 updates will be lighter and install faster than the updates from previous versions of Windows and this optimization is reflected in the form of a notice.
"Thanks to gHacks, there is access to a series of screenshots that show how when performing an installation, an estimate of the time that the equipment will use appears , a notice that appears directly on the Windows Update page and so that we don&39;t miss it, it also appears next to the shutdown, sleep and restart options in the Start menu."
In the indicator you can see how the system warned that the installation of the update would take about five minutes approximately , so they decided to compare it with the measurements of a stopwatch. The result is that it took the system less, just over a minute to install the update.
This disparity may be because the system makes a conservative estimate of the time it will take to install an update, but perhaps they should adjust a the deadlines a little longer so that it is not frustrating.
However, this is an option that does not always appear and for example in Windows Central they warn that with the Windows 11 Build released the Insider Program does not show the estimated time for the update
