Microsoft studies lowering the requirements to use Windows 11 and support seventh-generation Intel processors and AMD Zen 1
Table of contents:
The minimum requirements to upgrade to Windows 11 required by Microsoft continue to generate news. A good number of computers will be left out of being able to make the leap, something that has been reflected in the Surface range and this is causing complaints from users, so much so that in Microsoft are testing lowering those requirements and allowing 7th generation Intel and AMD Zen 1 processors.
The minimum requirements necessary to be able to upgrade to Windows 11 are much stricter than those that a PC needed at the time to give the Jump to Windows 10.In fact, changing the version of Windows was extremely easy. In this case, however, we are limited by the TPM chip and by the compatible processors.
In the hands of the Windows Insider Program
In this last sense, the company, as reported on its blog, could be open to equipment based on 7th generation Intel processors and AMD Zen 1 , they can make the leap to Windows 11. A process that is at the expense of seeing how those computers behave in a testing phase.
Microsoft&39;s goal is that computers that cannot offer good performance with the new version of Windows cannot make the evolutionary leap , even if this means the anger of the users. According to Microsoft&39;s release, we need a minimum system requirement that allows us to tailor software and hardware to keep up with people&39;s expectations."
Until now, along with the requirements that required TPM 2.0 was added the need to have one of the processors on this list :
- Intel 8th Gen.
- Intel 9th Gen
- Intel 10th Gen
- Intel 11th Gen or newer.
- Intel Xeon Skylake-SP.
- Cascade Lake-SP
- Cooper Lake-SP
- Xeon Ice Lake-SP.
To all of them, now the company could add the seventh generation Intel and AMD Zen 1, but everything will depend on the results obtained within the Insider Program with the release of the first Windows 11 Build.
We must remember that, according to Microsoft, Windows 11 is designed to be compatible on computers with processors of more than 1 GHz and 2 cores, with 4 GB of memory and 64 GB of storage, in line with theminimum system requirements for using Office and Microsoft Teams
