Microsoft and Google want to be able to control the audio of open tabs

The objective is to allow from the Windows volume mixer to change the volume of the content that is playing in any tab that open in a Chromium-based browser, be it Edge, Chrome, or any other.

And so far, if we want to change the volume using the Windows 10 mixer, this is limited to doing it with the audio of applicationsthat we have open, but if we try to do the same with the sound that comes from a browser tab, the experience will be poor.

So far, when opening the Windows volume controller, we see the applications that we have open and in case of having Chrome or Edge open with multiple tabs, everything appears as a single application in the form of a browserIn this way, we cannot control the audio of the tabs independently.

This can cause us to lower the volume of the browser completely and we want to leave a single tab but not the rest. Common bugs that will be resolved with a new feature that has been announced to be coming to Chromium and therefore Edge and Chrome.

A feature that will improve OS integration and features like the sound mixer with Edge and Chrome. With this system the names of each open audio tab will be displayed in the Windows 10 volume mixer, which can be accessed from the taskbar.

A change that will allow users to configure the sound either by applications, but also by the tabs that we have open in Edge and Chrome. An improvement that will reach all browsers that use the Chromium engine and for which an arrival date has not yet been set.
