June Patch Tuesday arrives with updates for Windows 10 2004

Like every second Tuesday of each month, we already have with us and ready to download, updates for different versions of the Microsoft operating system. A new set of updates that add both improvements and fixes for all supported versions of Windows 10 2004, 20H2, and 21H1

Fixing important vulnerabilities

This Tuesday patch is applicable to Windows 10 2004 and Windows 10 20H2 and Windows 10 21H1 and in all three cases we find the same code base. Remember that Windows 10 1909 received its last Patch Tuesday in May.

In this case we find the builds 19041.1052, 19042.1052 and 19043.1052 released respectively for Windows 10 2004, 20H2 and 21H1. All of them arrive with the KB5003637 patch, which means that they share almost all the characteristics. Here are the highlights of this update:

• Updates to improve security when using input devices such as mice, keyboards, or stylus.
• Updates to improve the security of Windows OLE (compound documents).
• Updates for verifying usernames and passwords.

• This update fixes 7 zero-day exploits and 50 vulnerabilities in total, 45 of which are at least critical.

• For Windows 10 2004, this version also contains updates for Microsoft HoloLens (OS Build 19041.1154) released on September 8 June 2021. Microsoft will release an update directly to the Windows Update client to improve Windows Update reliability on Microsoft HoloLens that have not been updated to this latest OS build..

  

• This update improves the quality of the servicing stack, which is the component that installs Windows updates. Servicing Stack Updates (SSU) ensure that you have a robust and reliable servicing stack so that your devices can receive and install updates from Microsoft.

• Security Updates Arrive for Microsoft Scripting Engine, Windows Application Platform and Frameworks, Windows Input and Composition, Windows Management, Windows Cloud Infrastructure, Windows Authentication, Windows Fundamentals, Virtualization Windows, Windows kernel, Windows HTML platform, and Windows storage and file systems.

Known Issues

• System and user certificates may be lost when upgrading a device from Windows 10, version 1809 or later to a later version of Windows 10. Devices will only be affected if they have already installed the latest cumulative update (LCU) released on or after September 16, 2020, and then proceed to update to a later version of Windows 10 from a media or source. installation that does not have an LCU released on October 13, 2020 or later built in. If you've encountered this issue on your device, you can mitigate it within the uninstall window by reverting to your previous version of Windows using the instructions here. The uninstall window can be 10 or 30 days, depending on your environment configuration and the version you are upgrading to.
• When you use the Microsoft Japanese Input Method Editor (IME) to enter Kanji characters in an application that automatically allows input of Furigana characters, you may not get the correct Furigana characters.You may need to enter the Furigana characters manually.
• A small subset of users reported lower than expected performance in games after installing this update Most users affected by This issue is running games in full screen or borderless windowed mode and using two or more monitors.
• After installing this update, 5.1 Dolby Digital audio may play with a high-pitched noise or squeal in certain applications when using certain audio devices and Windows settings. This problem does not occur when using stereo.
• Devices with Windows installations created from custom offline media or a custom ISO image may have Microsoft Edge Legacy removed by this update , but not automatically replaced by the new Microsoft Edge. This issue is only encountered when creating custom offline media or ISO images by incorporating this update into the image without first installing the Standalone Servicing Stack Update (SSU) released on or after March 29, 2021.
