Microsoft releases Windows 10 Build 21370: audio improvements

Microsoft has released Build 21370 within the Dev Channel in the Insider Program. A build that focuses primarily on fixing issues that have already been experienced by users and thus improve the overall experience and final performance.

This compilation, which follows Build 21364, introduces solutions that correct bugs of all kinds and thus, for example, bugs that occurred when connecting Bluetooth devices are solved, now offering better performance. In addition, the audio has been improved, supporting the AAC codec and making it possible to control volume on the headphonesLet's see what improvements it introduces.

Audio improvements and AAC codec support

  • Audio has been unified, so now the voice and the microphone of the Bluetooth headset work correctly. Now only one audio connection point is shown in the user interface and we won't have to click on different connected audio devices.
  • Support for the AAC codec is here, improving the quality of wireless audio streaming on compatible Bluetooth headphones and speakers the AAC codec.

Changes and improvements

  • Made some small adjustments to the address bar icons in File Explorer.
  • Improved the touch keyboard launch animation to be smoother in cases where UWP apps reset their flow when displayed.
  • Introduced a change so that if focus is set in the Run dialog, the touch keyboard will now display a backslash () key.

  • Fix an issue where Narrator would not announce the error message on the login screen after entering the wrong password multiple times.
  • Fixed an issue that caused broken characters to appear in text in settings.
  • Fixes an issue in the last two flights that caused Cortana to fail to launch from the taskbar after clicking the icon.
  • Fixed an issue that affected mouse input on the Dual Home screen.
  • Fixes translation issues in help text in Windows Subsystem for Linux.

Known Issues

  • They are investigating reports of the update process hanging for extended periods when trying to install a new version.
  • They are investigating an issue where search elements (including the search box in File Explorer) no longer display correctly in dark theme.
  • The Windows Camera app currently does not honor the default brightness setting set via the new Camera settings page.
  • They are working on a fix that causes WSL users to find that File Explorer launch performance regressed after upgrading to build 21354 and higher.
  • "Some instances of Windows Subsystem for Linux may fail to start with the message Parameter is incorrect. This known issue is tracked here in the WSL repository."
