April's Patch Tuesday is causing complaints from some users about performance issues and even the dreaded BSOD
Table of contents:
Two days ago we saw how Microsoft launched the April patch corresponding to the corresponding Patch Tuesday. An update with various improvements (corrected printing errors with some printers) and additions that, among others, confirm the removal of Edge with HTML engine. And with all these improvements, users are complaining about various bugs
According to the information provided by Windows Latest, when installing the KB5001330 patch some users are encountering different problems.Of performance, errors with the user profile or system failures that begins to appear reflected in the forums.
Failures of all kinds
These are builds 19041.928 and 19042.928 for Windows 10 on branch 20H2 and 2004 respectively. A mandatory patch that however returns to causing problems on some computers after installation. Failures of different types that we will now know in case you see yourself reflected in any of them.
A first type of problem refers to the fact that some users cannot install this latest update on their computers. When trying some of these error messages are being displayed:
- 0x800f081f
- 0x800f0984
- 0x800f0922
One of the users complains on the Microsoft forums about the impossibility of installing the latest update and says that he offers the same error from which patch KB5000842 already suffered.
The 0x800f0984 error is one of the most common when downloading the KB5001330 update. This is another comment regarding this bug.
These are problems related to the installation, but they also complain in other cases of failures related to profiles An error that It seemed to have been fixed earlier in the year and causes the operating system to load with a new user profile after installation.
Other bugs refer to drops in screen FPS when playing some games, causing them to become unplayable. This user on Reddit complains about this bug in Windows 10 20H2:
One of the assumptions of this update is that it would completely uninstall Edge Legacy from computers, but apparently some users are complaining that it has only removed the iconand the corresponding files are still present.
Until the blue screen
In some cases they have even encountered the hated blue screen of death during the update with errors related to incompatibility of a controller or its non-existence.
For now, Microsoft does not report bugs of this type on the Patch Tuesday page. However, if you have already downloaded the update and you encounter any of these errors, you can eliminate them in the most radical way and that we have already seen on other occasions.
If this is your case and your computer has been affected by any of these problems, an effective solution is to eliminate the update that is causing the failures : a process that goes through the path Settings, Update and securityand within it, click on See update history. The next step is to use the option Uninstall updates>Uninstall And if you have not updated yet and you are not sure about these complaints, you can pause the update temporarily."
