Microsoft confirms the bugs with the March 2021 update: all that remains is to uninstall while the patch arrives
Table of contents:
Yesterday we saw how the blue screen of death returned as a result of a Microsoft update. The update released in March as a cumulative update (and therefore not voluntary) was causing problems on some computers when they proceeded to print a document.
A day later, from Microsoft have confirmed the existence of said bug in some computers. The Windows 10 update with the KB5000802 patch is causing problems and the company, through a statement, has confirmed it, establishing the affected versions and a possible solution in the absence of the corrective patch.
The problem exists…
Starting with the statement, on the support page of said patch there is already a text detailing the possible problem and where they warn that they are already investigating it:
Apparently and as quoted in Windows Latest, almost all supported versions of Windows 10 are affected. More precisely, these are all versions of Windows 10 where the problem can occur:
- Windows 10 version 1803 with patch KB5000809 on build 17134.2087 17134.2087.
- Windows 10 version 1809 with patch KB5000822 on build 17763.1817.
- Windows 10, version 1909 with patch KB5000808 on build 18363.1440.
- Windows 10 Version 2004 and 20H2 with patch KB5000802 on builds 19041.867 and 19042.867.
"The problem appears to be occurring with printers of different brands. Those affected speak of Ricoh or Kyocera among others and comment that when clicking on the Print button>"
… and the solution is to uninstall
Yesterday we saw how one of the possible solutions, the most drastic, was uninstall the update that is causing problems And for now nothing changes , as there is no proposed solution from Microsoft and it seems best to uninstall and pause cumulative updates for at least 7 days or until Microsoft fixes the issue with a hotfix.
The process, which we already saw yesterday, is the following. To uninstall update KB5000802, the process goes through the path Settings, Update and securityand within it click on View update history The next step is to use the option Uninstall updates checking the update KB5000802 and then clicking the Uninstall button"
In case the process fails via Control Panel, you can also use command prompt with the following commands where the number is the patch you want to uninstall:
- For Windows 10 2004 or 20H2 use the command wusa /uninstall /kb:5000802.
- For Windows 10 1903 or 1909 use the command wusa / uninstall / kb: 5000808.
These are the steps that are recommended, at least while the corrective patch is released to solve this problem.
