How to set Edge or another app to use "Kiosk Mode" in Windows 10 and limit user access

With the arrival of Windows 8.1 we saw an option arrive in the Microsoft operating system that allowed the use of a computer with Designated Access. This means that we can establish that the person using that laptop has access to only one application that is normally a web browser It is something that you have surely seen in stores or in organisms."

This feature made the jump from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 and is very easy to activate. The requirements are have a version of Windows 10 Pro, Business or Education and have a user account (if we don't want to use ours) that we can assign to said profile.We will see the rest of the steps now.

How to create a kiosk mode

To create a user account we must go to the Configuration menu and then look for the section Accounts and inside click on the linkFamily and Others shown on the left. When we enter, click on Add another person to this team to start the process of creating a new account."

With the new account already created, let&39;s begin to shape the Designated Access mode proper and in this case the first thing that All we have to do is re-enter the Configuration menu."

Go back to Accounts and then Family and other peopleand click on the section Configure a kiosk At that point we will have to indicate which account will have assigned access and to which application it will have access. For testing we have chosen to use Edge."

Once we have entered Configure a kiosk, we must click on the option Assigned access and click on the button Start."

The first step is to give a name to the account with which we are going to log in in mode Designated access that stops the tests it will be Xataka Windows."

We will see how the new screen asks us to choose the application to which we want to give privileged access. We have chosen Microsoft Edge in the stable version, although it may be the one that interests us the most and it does not necessarily have to be a browser. Then click on the Next button."

The system tells us to set one of two options: either the starting a website in full screen or apublic browser that opens Microsoft Edge and has support for limited tabs We choose the first one and click on the Next button."

We will have to choose the page where we want Edge to start, in this case XatakaWindows and mark the time after which Edge it will reset if not used. And we click on the Next button again."

After these steps click on Close>. The PC will restart and automatically sign you in to kiosk mode with Microsoft Edge."

Remove kiosk mode

If at a certain time we want to eliminate the Designated Access mode we must repeat the previous steps that take us to the section Configuring a kiosk>" "

We will see a section with the title Kiosk Information, and that is where we must select the account and click on the button Delete Kiosk."
