In June, an error related to Windows 10 and some applications such as Chrome, Edge, Outlook… appeared, causing data loss and passwords stored by the operating system.

It was after these months, when from Microsoft they have admitted the problem and have documented it. A bug that is occurring when users install Windows 10 Build 19041.173 or a later one and for which they now offer a provisional solution until the corrective patch arrives.

Forgotten passwords… the solution

The bug as of the aforementioned build (Build 19041.173 or newer), is affecting Microsoft applications such as Outlook and Edge , as well as Chrome and other third-party utilities. In addition, it prevents data synchronization between devices by affecting the information that Microsoft services support for cloud synchronization.

This bug does not currently affect Windows 10 sign-in, but nevertheless forces users to enter passwords in affected apps and websites every time the PC is restarted.

"

The bug affecting Windows Credentials Manager>related to some user-created tasks or certain applications in Windows 10 Task Scheduler. In this sense propose a solution to correct the error by which the passwords of some applications are forgotten in Windows 10."

  • Start PowerShell with administrator privileges and enter the following command:
  • If there are any tasks listed on the PowerShell output screen, write them down.
  • Go to Windows Task Scheduler and disable the tasks found in the above command.
  • "
  • To do this, enter the Windows 10 search box, type Task Scheduler and then open the application Task Scheduler."
  • Find the task in the window or another task in the Windows PowerShell output.
  • "
  • Right-click the task and choose Deactivate."
  • After disabling the task, restart Windows.

For now there is no date for a fix to arrive, but on this Chromium-based Edge forum a developer claimed that it may still take time to reach users.
