About to face the final stretch of the year, it's time to talk about Microsoft updates for your operating system. Two cumulative updates arriving for Windows 10 May 2019 Update and for the latest version released, the 20H2 branch that has become Windows 10 October 2020 Update.
This is the Build 19041.662 and 19042.662 that arrives respectively for Windows 10 May 2019 Update and October 2020 Update. And all at a time when it must be remembered that Microsoft had paused the release of driver updates for components in Windows 10 if the OEM has not shipped the driver before December 3, 2020.But now we are going to see what these two Builds contribute, which in the case of the 20H2 branch includes all the improvements of Windows 10, version 2004.

- Fix an issue that clips the touch keyboard when using a remote desktop connection on a device that has a different screen resolution.
- Fixed an excessive network traffic crash that occurs when using the Open File dialog in File Explorer and looks for a shared folder that has the Previous Version feature available.
- Fixed bug preventing JumpList items from working. This occurs when you create them using the Windows.UI.StartScreen Windows Runtime (WinRT) API for desktop apps packaged in MSIX format.
- Fixes an issue that prevents applications from receiving Shift and Ctrl keypress events when using Bopomofo, Changjie, or Quick Input Method Editors (IMEs).

- Fixed a bug that prevents you from logging into certain servers. This occurs when you enable a group policy that forces the start of a computer session to be interactive.
- Fix an issue where failed to set the desktop background as it is set by a GPO when you specify the local background as a solid color .
- Fixed an issue with the Microsoft Pinyin IME that unexpectedly dismisses the candidate panel when you type certain phrases.
- Fix an issue that fails to send the Shift key event to an application when using the Japanese IME.
- Fixed the bug where Kaomoji was displayed incorrectly in the emoji panel.
- Fixed a bug that makes the touch keyboard unstable in the Mail app.
- Fixes an issue that enters unexpected characters, such as half-width Katakana, when you type a password while the IME is in Kana input mode.

- Fixes a runtime error that causes Visual Basic 6.0 (VB6) to crash when sending duplicate Windows messages to WindowProc() .

- Fixed a bug that prevents access to Azure Active Directory (AD) using the Google Chrome browser due to a misconfiguration conditional access policy.
- Improves visual quality for Windows Mixed Reality headsets running in lower resolution mode.
- Extends support for Microsoft Defender for Endpoint to new regions.
- Enables a new hardware-enforced stack protection feature called shadow stacks on supported hardware. This update allows applications to opt-in to user-mode shadow stack protection, which helps strengthen the integrity of the backward edge control flow and prevents return-oriented programming-based attacks.
- Fixes an issue in the Microsoft Remote Procedure Call (RPC) runtime that causes the Distributed File System Replication (DFSR) service to stop responding. This issue generates log events for DFS Replication (5014), RPC (1726), and No Reconnection (5004) for a default timeout of 24 hours with no replication.
- Touch keyboard is added to the list of allowed apps and now works in multi-app assigned access mode.
- Fixed a bug that prevented the PDF24 application version 9.1.1 from opening .txt files.
- Fixes an issue that could cause a nonpaged pool memory leak in some scenarios.
- Fixes an issue that allows an application that has been blocked from hydrating files to continue hydrating files in some cases.
- Fixed a bug that could cause a memory leak in bindflt.sys when copying files in a container scenario.
- Fixes an issue with Active Directory Certificate Services (AD CS) failing to send Certificate Transparency records ( CT) when enabled.
- Fixes an issue where cluster validation tests internal switches that are not for cluster use and re-communication.
- Fixed a bug that causes a stop error 0x27 when trying to log in to a device that is not in a domain using credentials for a device that is in the domain.
Known Bugs
- Users of the Microsoft Input Method Editor (IME) for Japanese or Chinese languages may experience problems when attempting various tasks. You may have input problems, receive unexpected results, or be unable to enter text
- System and user certificates may be lost when upgrading a device from Windows 10, version 1809 or later to a later version of Windows 10. Devices will only be affected if they have already installed the latest cumulative update (LCU) released on or after September 16, 2020, and then proceed to update to a later version of Windows 10 from a media or source. installation that does not have an LCU released on October 13, 2020 or later built in. This mainly occurs when managed devices are updated using outdated packages or media through an update management tool such as Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) or Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager. This can also happen when using outdated physical media or ISO images that do not have the latest updates integrated.
