Table of contents:
If you have been using Windows for a long time, you may have faced a problem that can appear when a restore point is used to go back to a previous copy of Windows and solve the problems that The current version may be causing us. This is the error with a temporary profile
An issue that prevents our team from loading our profile data thus preventing our settings from loading. It may be the case that it returns temporarily, but it disappears as soon as we restart or turn off the computer. An error that, however, you can solve just by following these steps.
Steps to follow
"When we find the warning message about problems loading our profile on the menu screen Settings we should not be scared . It is an easily correctable error by accessing the Registry Editor. At this point and before continuing, it may be advisable to make a backup copy of the registry, for which it is enough to click on the option File and then onExport or directly afterwards, with the right mouse button, on the file that we are going to delete."
And returning to the tutorial, to solve this problem the first thing you should do is access the Windows Registry Editor, a place where You must be extremely careful with the files that are going to be modified. To access the editor, the most practical thing is to locate ourselves in the search bar and execute the command Regedit Once inside we use the following path: "
HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
At this point we will see a series of folders with the name S-1-5 along with some corresponding numbers with the different profiles Windows. There we must look for a folder ending in the extension .bak."
This folder is the one that stores the profile that is causing problems, so you should delete it (you can make a backup copy if desired) by clicking on it with the right mouse button and selecting the “Delete” option.
With the problematic profile deleted, we only have to restart the PC so that the changes made are applied so that it reloads our usual user profile and the equipment recovers the configuration to which we are accustomed.
In this way we will once again have access to the configuration of our equipment (wallpapers, applications, user profiles…) as and how we left it before the error appeared with the temporary profile.
