Problems with storage in Windows 10 2004? Microsoft confirms it and this is the solution they offer if you are affected

Windows 10 May 2020 Update continues to reach users in stages in a process that is intended to prevent potential major bugs from spreading uncontrolled among the park of computers that update to the latest version.

A temporary solution

A bug that Microsoft has confirmed on the support page and due to which some computers that have Windows 10 May 2020 Update cannot access the entire storage space storage on your computer's hard drive. In addition, they report that some settings cause a Storage Spaces partition to show RAW in Disk Management.

Microsoft acknowledges that for now there is no solution to this bug, although they are investigating the case and for now it can only be corrected temporarily by marking storage spaces as read-only. Users can address the issue by following these steps:

• With the right mouse button click on the PowerShell window and select Run as administrator."

• The screen will display a User Access Control dialog where we checked yes."
• Once inside the PowerShell dialog box, type the command get-virtualdisk | ? WriteCacheSize -gt 0 | get-disk | set-disk -IsReadOnly $ true
• "The last step is to press the Enter key."

This way the storage spaces are configured as read-only, which means that they will not be writable and therefore the device will be able to continue using them. In addition, Microsoft advises that it is not advisable to run the chkdsk command on any device that is affected by this problem.
