The Windows 10 2004 Update

When acquaintances ask me about the specifications that I consider a PC should be assembled when it comes to getting a new computer, one of the advice I give them is to opt for storage via SSD instead of HDD, at least if they are not going to require large capacities

The difference in speed in reading and writing offered by one technology and another offers abysmal differences, something that many have surely verified when making the leap from one type of storage to another. The handicap is the relationship between capacity and price, a problem that must be corrected over time.But there are still many computers that are sold with the traditional HDD and Windows 10 combination, computers that may see improved performance when the spring update arrives

Improving the use of HDD disks

And it is that from Microsoft they affirm that the update that will presumably reach Windows 10 in May 2020, will improve usability on computers that use an HDD disk , a traditional record. Be careful, it does not mean that the performance is equal to that of an SSD, but it does mean that using traditional storage will be more bearable.

Microsoft will achieve better performance with HDDs thanks to reduced disk usage by the Windows search process, a process that requires high disk usage which if it causes indexing problems can increase the load on the system drive.

To achieve this, Windows 10 in the 20H1 branch would provide a new algorithm so that when performing a search the system identifies if they are being used excessive CPU and disk resources and therefore can take the necessary measures to solve the problem.

The improvement in the indexing process, will be appreciated especially in HDD discs, since the access speed is much lower and therefore, the room for improvement is greater. It prevents the computer from hogging CPU and disk resources as we have seen recently with some builds.

Windows 10 20H1 branch is getting closer, a long-awaited update after seeing how Windows 10 November 2019 Update was a tremendously light update that has brought almost no improvements to Microsoft's operating system.
