The Complete Guide: How to Change Username

Whenever we start our PC we find ourselves in the same routine: enter the username and password, or at least the access password. We have determined this in many cases at will, but what if at a certain moment we want to change that data?

That is why we are going to review how you can change the username and password for access in Windows 10. We can change these parameters in a few steps and customize access to our team, even modifying the profile image.

Change Username

To begin we go to the menu Start and click on our profile image located in the left column. We will see the image that we have associated and when we press we will see how it also appears, next to the icon, the username and a series of options among which we will mark Change account settings "

We then access the Windows Settings, within the section Accounts and in the section Your information click on Manage my Microsoft account. "

A window then opens in the browser that takes us to the Windows profile. Inside, click on the More actions section that appears in the upper left part of the screen and once inside the option Edit profile ."

At that point we will have access to all the profile data of our Microsoft account and in it we click on the option Edit name , located at the top of the screen."

We will have to choose a first and last name to use as a username in Windows, a step that we must confirm by typing the verification code that appears belowand clicking Save to confirm the changes.

In that same section we can also change the image that we have associated with our profile. To achieve this we will press Change image to modify the profile photo that appears next to the username in Windows 10 and we will see the option with the image we are using and a section to upload a new one and use it in our profile."

Once we have carried out these steps, we only have to Reboot the equipment so that all the changes are applied. "

We can also change the account image within Settings, also in the Accounts section and in Your Information, we will see how the option Create your image appears , where we can use the webcam to take a picture or upload an archived image."

Change access password

In this case we must warn that if we change the password of our PC, we are going to change our Microsoft password, the one we use and that is associated with all company services.

To change the access password on our PC, the first thing we have to do is access the menu Windows Settings by pressing the cogwheel from the menu Start or the key combination Windows + I. "

From among all the sections we select Accounts and we will see in the left column different sections among which we have to select Login Options and within it in option Password, marked with a key. "

In case of not having a password, we can create it and if we already have one we will see a button with the legend Change>. It will ask us to confirm our identity by one of the defined methods and after that step we can go on to change the password."

The steps are the usual ones: enter the current password and the new one that we want to use. Once confirmed, we can leave and we will have changed the access password on our computer and our account.
