Table of contents:
Maybe at some point you had to turn off the equipment at a certain time but you were not going to be able to do it manually when you were not at home. Schedule automatic shutdown in Windows 10 It is very easy and it is also possible to do it without having to resort to third-party applications.
Windows 10 hides a task scheduler that offers a wide range of options, a tool through which we can create automations in Windows and one of the most practical is the one that allows us to establish a schedule to shut down the computer.Just follow the instructions and steps that we will see below.
Steps to follow
"The first step is to access Task Scheduler and the quickest step to find it is to use the search engine in the form of a magnifying glass that appears next to the Start Menu bottom left."
"When opening the Task Scheduler we will see a large number of options and among all those that appear in the window we will look at one that we see on the right side of the screen under the heading Create basic taskā¦."
A series of steps are opened that guide us to execute the entire process and the first one involves giving a name to the task that we are going to start. In this case I have used Turn off the computer but it can be any name. Once named, click on Next to continue."
Now we must establish the periodicity, when we want the task to be repeated. Daily, weekly, monthly... when we want the equipment to turn off automatically. In this case I have used the weekly option, so that the PC shuts down once a week.
We have to set the date and time at which we want the equipment to turn off but also the days on which we want the task to be executed, by marking a 1 so that it is repeated every day at the same time (the value varies depending on how many times we want it to be repeated). Once the fields are filled in and completed, click on Next."
One of the key points arrives and that is to establish the action that we want to carry out, which we have called Turn off the computer. To do this, select the option Start a program and click on Next. "
"We will use the Browse button to choose which program we want to run, for which Browse will open a window with a file explorer and among all the files we will look for one called Shutdown at address C:\Windows\System32, the path that opens by default in the window. Double click on the application shutdown.exe to select it."
With the address field already filled in (C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe), we only have to click on Next to confirm all the steps we have carried out previously."
From that moment on, the equipment will turn off automatically at the time we have indicated.
