Microsoft releases Build 18999 into the Fast Ring to polish details before the fall update

If a while ago we talked about the arrival of call control in the Your Phone application, now we are talking about the compilation that makes it possible. Build 18999 hits the Insider Program in the Fast Ring loaded with improvements and fixes to polish up the arrival of the Fall Update.

We won't see any great news and along with the important improvement coming to Your Phone, the other news is the replacement at the head of the Insider Program. No more announcements by Dona Sarkar on Twitter and now Jen Gentleman, @JenMsft, will deliver the news to us.

Improvements in Build 18999

Among the new features, the Tu Teléfono app now allows call management from the PC. If you have a Build of 19H2 or higher and a mobile with Android 7.0 or a newer version, you can make calls from the Your Phone application through the PC's microphone and speakers.

These are the possibilities that Your Phone now allows regarding making calls:

• Answer incoming calls on PC.
• Initiate calls from PC using dial or contact list.
• Reject incoming calls with a personalized text, or send it to voicemail.
• Access the call history from our PC. If we click on a call, the number will be dialed.
• Pass calls between PC and mobile.
• Share calls between an Android mobile and Windows 10 with Your phone in Build 18999

More improvements and fixes

• As of this moment, this possibility to place the window of the new Cortana where we want, as well as to resize it, is already available to all users in the fast ring.
• Fixed an issue where Insiders would see error 0x8007023e when installing updates.
• Fixed an issue where, after upgrading to Build 18995, the Windows Update settings might show that the same build is available. After installing Build 18999, there will be no issues in future builds.
• Fixed a bug where the optional features page in Settings would close unexpectedly for some Insiders.

• Narrator will not display the text being dictated when returning to the same braille editing field after returning from an item that does not support standard text handling.
• The magnifying glass now remembers the position of the window after closing and will open to the same position.
• Fixed an issue where the text cursor indicator wouldn't snap to the correct position when scrolling.
• Fixed a bug in the search bar in the Control Panel in File Explorer where text could not be entered.
• Fixed a bug where dual-scan devices (WSUS and Windows Update) might not show new updates on the fast ring.
• Fixed an issue where some devices configured to use HDR might experience a blue tint on HDR displays after using Night Light.
• Fixed a bug where certain 2D apps (Feedback Hub, Microsoft Store, 3D Viewer) were considered as content-protected apps in Windows Mixed Reality and could not be recorded.
• Fixed an issue where recording a replay of a crash from the Feedback Hub in Windows Mixed Reality would fail to stop the video.

Known Bugs

• In some situations, the calling function will require us to link the PC and mobile again.
• There is an issue with older versions of anti-cheat software used in games where upgrading to the latest Windows 10 19H1 Build could cause PCs to crash. Microsoft is working with partners to get the software updated with the fix, as have most of the games that use it.
• To minimize the chance of experiencing this bug, make sure to use the latest version of any games you have installed before upgrading your operating system. In addition, Microsoft is collaborating with anti-cheat and game developers to fix any bugs that may be in Windows 10 20H1, and minimize problems for the future.
