Windows 10 in the 19H2 branch will improve the performance and autonomy of computers that have Intel processors
Table of contents:
Yesterday we had a Microsoft event and although we saw how Windows 10X arrived, we were left wanting to hear about the next big update to Windows 10, the one that for now has as codenamed 19H2 and might end up being called Windows 10 October 2019 Update.
Windows 10 in its 1909 version is getting closer and we have seen how Microsoft has launched different compilations within the Insider Program A development that could reach to its end this week and that could offer among its improvements an optimization of the use of the battery in our devices that will increase their autonomy.
Improving performance
Windows 10 version 1909 already has Release Preview in the Insider Program, so it may not take too long to arrive to the majority of users and among the novelties it can arrive with an optimization in the use of the battery.
Microsoft would have worked on improving the rotation system in the different CPU cores, establishing a series of preferences that would seek to achieve greater battery duration. Something that would affect all the computers that installed this version of Windows 10. For this they would have developed improvements that would be applied to certain processors.
Specifically, it would be Intel processors that have cores with different frequency and voltage characteristics. Differences that can cause some cores to offer better performance or more optimized consumption, which is why they are called Favored Core>"
Windows 10 1909 you will benefit from Intel Turbo Boost Max technology which is responsible for identifying the most suitable cores for each job to be developed as the new core rotation policy will distribute the most critical workloads more evenly across the preferred cores for better performance.
Of course, keep in mind that this improvement takes advantage of Intel Turbo Boost technology in versions 2.0 and 3.0 and Other than this, they are only available on a certain number of Intel processors. All Intel Core i5 and i7 processors support Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0, while Intel Turbo Boost Technology 3.0 is limited to high-end CPUs only. These are the models that will benefit:
- Intel Core i7 Processors Mobile and Desktop (Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0)
- Intel Core i5 processors Mobile and desktop (Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0)
- Intel Core X Series Processors (Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0)
- Intel Core Processor Family i7-69xx / 68xx (Intel Turbo Boost Technology 3.0)
- Intel Core i9-7900X / i9-7920X / i9-7940X / i9-7960X / i9-7980XE / i7-7820X / i7-9800X(Intel Turbo Boost Technology 3.0)
- Intel Core i9-9820X / i9-99x0XE / i9-99x0X (Intel Turbo Boost Technology 3.0)
- Processor Product Family Intel Xeon E5-1600 v4 (socket only) (Intel Turbo Boost Technology 3.0)
- Intel 10th Generation CPU (Intel Turbo Boost Technology 3.0)
While we expected Windows 10 in version 1909 to be announced yesterday, it looks like we'll still have to wait a few hours (or days) until that Microsoft starts the launch of a version of Windows 10 that will not offer too many new features but that it will come with many bug fixes.
