We release a month and simultaneously the users of the Fast Ring within the Insider Program release a new compilation. This time it's about Build 18950, which comes to help the development of branch 20H1, Microsoft's new development for Windows 10.

In this compilation we will see, along with the improvements to achieve better system performance, some striking new features that correct bugs commented by users. This is the case of the corrections for the Cropping and annotation application or the improvements added to the navigation using the keyboard.

Added improvements when using key navigation in the candidate prediction window, fixing an issue where the focus within the prediction candidate window would not move when using the down key arrow up.

  • Regarding key customization, the detectability of key mapping settings has been improved. Also, and thanks to user feedback, the assigned default value of Ctrl + Space has been updated to be “None”. Ctrl + Space can still be used to enable/disable the IME by changing the value via settings.
  • "
  • Improvements for the Crop and Annotation tool>"
  • In the same field and in the Zoom tool, screenshots can now be enlarged if they are too small for annotations. If you want to see the crop in the original size, just click on the Zoom button and then on “Actual size”.
  • The new Zoom options are now shown in action.

  • Improved the discoverability of WIN + Shift + S so that you can now use the canvas space in Snipping & Annotation to help you learn how to start a snip without opening the app First.
  • These changes are currently available to a portion of the Insiders in the Fast ring, as they will assess the quality before proceeding with the implementation.

General changes, improvements and fixes

  • Users receiving this Build may notice some references to “cloud download” related to restarting or updating the PC. This feature is not available and still works. When it's available to everyone, we'll let you know so they can try it.
  • "
  • Fixes an issue where ctfmon.exe>"
  • Fix an issue where pasting from clipboard history (WIN + V) would not work when using the Bopomofo IME.
  • Japanese IME Improvements
  • Fixed a bug that caused the Hanja conversion to not work for the updated Korean IME when writing certain applications.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the OneNote application to act intermittently as if the Ctrl key was down when it was not.
  • Windows 10 calculator comes to iOS and Android

Known Issues

There has been a bug with older versions of anti-cheat software used with games and after updating to the latest 19H1 Insider Preview builds can cause computers to experience crashes. They work with partners to update their software with a fix, and most games have released patches to prevent computers from experiencing this issue. To minimize the chance of encountering this issue, make sure you are running the latest version of your games before attempting to update your operating system.

  • Some Re altek SD card readers do not work properly.
  • Tamper Protection may be turned off in Windows Security after upgrading to this build. You can turn it back on. In August, Tamper Protection will once again be on by default for all Insiders.
  • Occasionally, the candidate selection in the prediction candidate window for the Japanese IME does not match the composition string.
