Windows Lite could now be called ModernPC: a list appears with possible developments based on Windows Core OS

One of the rumors circulating the most strongly on the Internet is the one that refers to the work that Microsoft is carrying out to have new versions of WindowsAnd it's not that its operating system is doing badly, quite the opposite: it's the most widely used operating system. But new challenges appear on the horizon.

In the form of new devices (something that in the absence of confirmation everyone takes for granted) and therefore, different needs. A combination of factors that facilitate the arrival of a operating system specially designed to power the operation of this new typology of products. We have talked about Lite, Windows Lite, Windows Core OS… and now the news about it is back.

And it was the well-known Twitter user, @gus33000, who, through the well-known social network, echoed a series of versions in which that they would be working from Microsoft to shape a new operating system with which to run their devices.

The list is relatively extensive and we found some names that sound a lot to us. This is the case of Andromeda, for example. Likewise, the Internet of Things (IoT) has a place in a list in which there is no reference to Lite or Windows Lite.

  • Windows IoTOS (Microsoft.IoTOS)
  • Windows IoTEdgeOS (Microsoft.IoTEdgeOS)
  • Holographic (Microsoft.Holographic)
  • Factory OS (Microsoft.FactoryOS)
  • Factory OS Holographic (Microsoft.FactoryOSHolographic)
  • Factory OS Andromeda Device (Microsoft.FactoryOSAndromeda)
  • WindowsCoreHeadless OS (Microsoft.WindowsCoreHeadless)
  • Windows Core (Microsoft.WindowsCore)
  • Hub OS (Microsoft.HubOS)
  • Andromeda OS (Microsoft.AndromedaOS)
  • Polaris (Microsoft.Polaris)
  • ModernPC (Microsoft.ModernPC)

An absence, this last one, which according to Zac Bowden, editor of WindowsCentral, does not mean that it has been discarded, but rather that would have adopted another nomenclature .

In this way and according to Bowden, Lite could now be ModernPc. In fact, it is the answer offered by the question asked by @h0x0d and where he answers Gustave Monce.

However for now there is no official information to cling to, so we will have to continue waiting for possible communications or announcements by Microsoft to find out what the immediate future of the company is, at least as far as new variants of Windows are concerned.
