Networks complain about the latest Microsoft patch for Windows 10 April 2018 Update: it presents more bugs than recognized
Table of contents:
Two days ago Microsoft released two Builds, both for Windows 10 April 2018 Update and October 2018 Update. Updates apparently without major news and yet are offering innumerable problems to those who are using Windows 10 April 2018 Update.
"Specifically, it is the update that corresponds to the KB4480966 patch that can already be downloaded through the usual system, that is, in the path Settings > Update and Security > Windows UpdateAn update focused on improving system performance and yet is causing a lot of problems."
Let's remember that this patch was intended to solve a serious security breach, a bug with the key CVE-2019-0547 that caused it to be used by the DHCP client and a corruption in it, Malicious code can be executed remotely A _bug_ that can be nothing if we compare it with the problems caused by medicine.
MSPU colleagues have echoed complaints from users showing that there are more problems in the update apart from the four to acknowledge Microsoft on the support page. But before we continue let's see what are the known errors according to Microsoft:
- After installing the August Quality Rollup update or the September 11, 2018 .NET Framework update, instantiation of the SqlConnection might throw an exception. Microsoft is working on a fix.
- Some users cannot add a web link to the Start menu or taskbar.
- "The Cluster service might fail to start with error 2245 (NERR_PasswordTooShort) if the Minimum Password Length Group Policy is set to more than 14 characters. As a workaround, you can set the default domain policy Minimum password length to less than or equal to 14 characters."
- Third-party applications may have difficulty authenticating access points.
Out of range failures
"So there are users who complain that after installing it, some anti-malware tools can mark some .dll files as if they were Trojans. Others claim in specialized forums (Tenforums) that Edge _can no longer open the administration page of the router&39;s web UI since this update while Internet Explorer still can._"
"They also talk about _problems with external drives that connect to the computer_, which fail after the update"
But it is also that on Twitter and the Microsoft forums, usual channels to show discontent and let the developer on duty know, some users complain about blue screens.
But also problems with some image editing programs, specifically Davinci Resolve, problems with the recognition of the data system how they mention here, the appearance of the error 0x800f080d that prevents updating or how the system notifies you to uninstall the application and deactivate automatic updates.
The truth is that if a few hours ago we already saw how the update for Windows 7 was being a real nonsense, it seems that now the patch intended to improve Windows 10 April 2018 Update is the one intended for steal the dubious dire upgrade slot
The most conspiratorial minds might think that this is a way to give users a push to make the jump to Windows 10 October 2018 Update, as the recent update is not having a good reception among users. But as I say, it is only a very particular impression.
