Microsoft is working on improving the stability of updates received by insiders in the Slow Ring
We have been seeing news about Windows 10 and the recent update released at the beginning of October come to light for days. Windows 10 October 2018 Update is causing more problems than expected to users and consequently to the American company, something they don't want to happen again.
In fact, the fact that even in the Insider Program they have experienced major failures is something that surprises many. Where is the feedback from users who have previously tested this version? That is what Microsoft wants to correct, at least in the next _builds_ that are released in the Slow Ring.
Microsoft has announced in this regard that they are working to improve the process and all the compilations released in the Slow Ring have been coming for a few weeks after having studied the comments made by the users of the Insider Program in the Fast Ring , something that leads us to thinkā¦ Shouldn't this be the _modus operandi_ from the first moment? Apparently the comments weren't studied as well as they should?
To this end, they have developed a series of points to follow in what should be the new practice that they will carry out:
- The stability of builds released in the Fast Ring will be constantly evaluated, both based on feedback from users of the Insider Program how internally.
- With possible bugs detected, a report will be sent to the developers before the build is released in the Slow Ring. It's about getting that build out trouble-free in a release that should arrive in 3-5 days.
- Microsoft will test said build internally and in parallel and if everything is correct it will release it in the Slow Ring of the Insider Program.
This, translated into terms of use, means that users will gain stability when installing builds on their computers. The degree of error can never be 0%, but at least problems such as those we have had on occasions will be avoided. In addition, they want the launch process to see a reduction in the time that elapses from its departure in the Fast Ring and its arrival in the Slow Ring.
The idea, which has already begun to be implemented, is excellent. More security when installing system updates is always welcome but it leaves us with a question What was the way to proceed then until now?
