Through these servers, the system can translate the domain names or URLs to the IP address so that our team can establish communication. Said like this, we see how they are a fundamental link.

Each Internet provider has its own DNS but you can also choose to use the DNS provided by companies such as Google, Cloudflare or OpenDNS . They are alternative DNS servers to those of the operators that work really well.

If we use external DNS such as those of Google or OpenDNS we can increase the response speed when searching for a page or add an extra layer of security to avoid, for example, DDoS attacks and even to avoid access blocks to certain web pages.Modifying these parameters from our computer is tremendously easy and here we explain how.

To do this we are going to go to the menu Windows 10 Settings which, as we already know, is located in the gear wheel that appears in the area lower left of the screen. Once inside we look for the section Network and Internet in which we find all the options to manage our Internet connection."

Depending on whether the connection is made via Wi-Fi or Ethernet cable, we must choose one or the other option, but there is no need to worry, because the process is basically the same.

We must look for the option Change adapter options and thus access the Network connections panel . We will see our connection and we _click_ with the right mouse button or _trackpad_."

We will see a pop-up menu and from among the possibilities it offers we choose the option Properties."

We will see a new window with a list of options and from among all we choose Internet Protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and the select and then click on Properties."

Once we have entered properties we just have to click on the option Use the following DNS server addresses and enter the DNS addresses that we want to use. In my case I have opted for those of CloudFlare (1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1). Once added, all that remains is to click on Accept and we will have the new configured value."
