Microsoft releases a new cumulative update for Windows 10 focused on fixing USB connection failures
Is there anything more frustrating when we are going to use our computer than running into a USB connector failure? We connect any peripheral and it doesn't respond... and it doesn't no matter how much we disconnect and reconnect the device. A bug that was present occasionally affecting some users in Windows 10 and which Microsoft has fixed.
This is the target of the latest cumulative update for Windows 10 Build 1709, that is, Windows 10 Fall Creators UpdateAn improvement that seeks to end the problem suffered by some computers and that has caused headaches for users who suffered from it.
The new update has the build number 16299.251 and has the following changelog (_changelog_) on the support page from Microsoft:
We don't know if, together with the correction of this error, it offers any other addition for the update that usually comes out in the middle of the week. And it is that it is not usual that they launch an update like this unless it tries to correct a problem of relative importance.
Also there are a number of problems that are still present:
- Windows update history reports that update KB4054517 could not be installed due to error 0x80070643.
- Due to an issue affecting some versions of antivirus software, this fix applies only to computers where the antivirus ISV updated ALLOW REGKEY.
- After installing this update, some devices may fail to boot and return INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE.
- This issue occurs when the Windows Update servicing stack incorrectly skips installing the latest version of some critical drivers in the cumulative update and uninstalls currently active drivers during maintenance.
- Due to an AD FS server issue that makes the AD FS WID database unusable after a reboot, the AD FS service may fail to start.
This new _update_ is already available for download and you can install it by going to Settings (the gear wheel at the bottom left) and then in the pop-up menu entering the window Updates and Security and in the section Windows UpdateIf you can&39;t find it that way, you can always download it manually from this link."
