Microsoft has released a new Build a few hours ago. This is Build 17074 that is available for PC within the Windows Insiders Program, and users belonging to the Fast Ring and Skip Ahead can download and install it.
An update that catches many by surpriseand as usual has been announced by Dona Sarkar through the account of her on her Twitter. In this Build we are going to find improvements in the interface and news in different sections, including changes in the Configuration of the operating system.
Microsoft Edge improvements
Hub Improvements: The Hub view in Microsoft Edge has been improved to show more content and be easier and more intuitive to use .
Autofill cards in web forms: Microsoft Edge can now save and autofill your card information in web payment forms. When submitting a form with card information, Microsoft Edge will ask us to save the card information. In the future, you can simply select your preferred card from a dropdown menu to automatically fill in the required fields. Microsoft Edge securely stores your card information. CVV information is never saved. All cards linked to the Microsoft account are also available to autofill card information.
New reading experience for EPUB, PDF, and Reading View: Revised the appearance of reading experiences and books in Microsoft Edge, delivering a new, consistent, and more powerful experience across all your documents, whether they're EPUB or PDF Books, documents, or web pages in Reading View.
In Books, a new pop-up menu has been added for Notes, making it very easy to navigate between annotations, notes, or moments featured. The search bar has also been updated, so you can review your document more easily, including Go to Page (Ctrl-G) to find a specific page in the document."
Grammar tools for EPUB books and Reading View: When viewing reflowable EPUB books or Reading View for websites, you can now use the new Grammar Tools button to enable new comprehension aids. Grammar Tools can break words on the page into syllables, as well as highlight different parts of speech, such as nouns, verbs, and adjectives.

New Full Screen Reading Experience: Now we can take book pages, PDF files and full screen reading view, for a distraction-free reading experience.
Enhanced Roaming for progress and notes on all devices: for books in the store, reading progress, Notes, bookmarks, and annotations will roam much faster between devices on the same account in near real-time over WNS.
General Improvements: Many improvements have been made to Fixed Layout EPUB books, so content should be organized more predictable on the page. Assistive technology users will also find several improvements for viewing PDFs or books with a screen reader, including more explicit narration when opening, loading, and navigating books.
Enhanced Library Experience: Library enhancements in Build 17035 have been developed with new changes in response to your feedback. Now, in addition to updating your library or pinning books to your Start menu, you can see recommendations for new books (when your library is empty) or filter out expired rentals from your current library view.When you're reading a book, we now display a Books icon and the title, instead of the URI, for a cleaner, less cluttered presentation.
Audio Narrated Books: Support for EPUB media overlays has been added, enabling support for a personalized narration experience , which includes custom audio and highlight styles. In supported books, you can now hear the book read aloud with custom narration, with the style chosen by the publisher applied to the highlighting as the book is read.
"Favorites Bar Improvements: The Favorites Bar will now automatically display on the Home and New tab pages, if it has at least one of your favorites. When you browse, the favorites bar will automatically hide to give you more space to browse. You can choose to always show the favorites bar if you want, via a context menu on the Favorites Bar Show Favorites Bar, or via the Show Favorites Bar setting.The Favorites bar now also supports hiding names for individual favorite bar items, instead of having to hide all or none of the names."
Option to never save passwords for domains: One of the best responses from Windows Insiders was to provide an option to never save passwords passwords for certain sites are saved. When you choose to never save passwords, you will never be prompted for a password save notification for that site.
AutoFill Passwords When InPrivate: Microsoft Edge now supports autofill of saved passwords when browsing InPrivate. To see the list of credentials available for a site, click on the username field and it would populate all the credentials saved for the website. User credentials will not be saved or updated when windows are InPrivate.
Use Extensions in InPrivate: We've listened to your feedback and added the ability to load extensions when Microsoft Edge is in a browser window. InPrivate. You can grant individual extensions permissions to run in InPrivate from the options menu for the extension. We are working with extension developers to enable more features when InPrivate.
"Variable Fonts: Microsoft Edge now supports CSS extensions for OpenType Font Variations, which allows individual variable font files to behave as multiple fonts, with a range of weight, width, or other attributes. You can see examples of variable fonts in practice at Axis-Praxis Playground in Microsoft Edge."
"Dock Microsoft Edge DevTools vertically: Microsoft Edge DevTools can now be docked vertically, fulfilling one of the main functions of the web developer app.Click the new Dock Right button in the upper right corner of the tools to toggle the location. In a future update, we plan to improve the DevTools user interface and content flow when vertically docked."
Windows Shell enhancements
Quiet Hours: Added Quiet Hours functionality that allows you to automatically choose times when you don't want to be disturbed by automatic Quiet Hours rules.
- Quiet hours will automatically turn on when you're mirroring your screen.
- Quiet Hours will turn on automatically when using a full screen exclusive DirectX game.
- "You can set the time that is most convenient for you so that Quiet Hours are always on when you want it in the Settings path > Quiet Hours to configure your schedule."
- Customize the priority list so your important people and apps always move forward when Quiet Hours are turned on.
- "Access a summary of what you missed while on Quiet Hours."
- "If you&39;re using Cortana, you can also turn on Quiet Hours while you&39;re home."
Make your folders more discoverable: Make it easier to navigate to the things that matter most by displaying links to the Documents and Images in the Start menu by default. If you want to customize the folders that appear here, just right click on an item and there is now a link directly to the customization settings.
Near Share Improvements: Some major reliability fixes have been made to the feature with this release.
Windows Settings Improvements
"Improved Storage Settings: In Settings, we&39;ll find that the Disk Cleanup functionality has been moved to Storage Settings. "
"Sound Settings Improvements: Created a new App Volume and Device Preferences page to help customize audio experience to best suit your needs and preferences."
Input improvements
Introducing the embedded handwriting panel: Adds a new way to write by hand in Windows. Handwriting is now added embeds handwriting in the text control!
To try it out, simply tap your stylus on a supported text field and it will expand to provide a comfortable area for you to write. Your writing will be recognized and converted to text. If you run out of space, an extra line will be created below so you can continue typing.Once you're done, simply tap outside the text field.
If something is misrecognized or you want to edit what you've typed, the same gestures that are available through the handwriting panel will also be available, such as the new Insert gesture we recently added.
Handwriting Recognition Updates
Windows can now recognize Hindi writing: Extended writing capabilities to new languages, including Hindi, Welsh, Sesotho, Wolof and Maori.
"To install one of these languages, we need to Setup > Time & Language > Region & Language and click Add Language. Select the language name and click Next. We must restart the machine for the changes to take effect."
XAML Enhancements
Improved Navigation: Stabilized and added animations for article headers, panel opening, and item selection events.
CommandBar Margins: Added a 2px margin between AppBarButtons by default when they are on a CommandBar. This also applies to the AppBarButtonRevealStyle .
General changes, improvements and fixes for PC
- This build includes fixes to protect Insiders from the Specter and Meltdown vulnerabilities.
- "Windows now fully supports Adobe OpenType .otf variable fonts, such as the Acumin Variable Concept font and others recently released by Adobe."
- "Windows 10 S users may have noticed that after updating to the latest builds, their PC appears to be running Windows 10 Pro in S mode. - Fixed an issue where if you used any EUDC font, Microsoft Edge, Cortana and other apps that use a web view would not open.
- Fixed an issue that caused Microsoft Edge to crash when deleting bookmarks.
- Fixed an issue where Microsoft Edge could crash when trying to copy text or sign in to certain websites.
- Fixed an issue where Microsoft Edge could crash when opening PDF files on the previous flight.
- Fixed an issue in Microsoft Edge that caused images on flickr.com to go blank after a follow / unfollow user action.
- Fixed an issue that caused a white line to be seen on the right side of the screen when viewing certain videos full screen in Microsoft Edge.
- Fixed an issue where, when navigating OOBE, some of the page buttons might not display correctly.
- Fixed an issue that caused Themes to appear on Start after they had been downloaded from the Store.
- Updated the Reveal effect in the Clock & Calendar drop-down menu on the Taskbar so that the day with focus now has a lighter background.
- Fixed an issue where the reply message (such as Windows Hello) could end up overlaying Spotlight text on the lock screen.

- Fixed an issue where when transparency effects were turned off, the Virtual Desktops panel in Task View would overlap the Timeline with no background.
- Fixed an issue that caused explorer.exe to crash when using WIN + Tab to open Task View on the previous flight.
- Fixed an issue that caused explorer.exe to crash when trying to use control.exe to open application defaults.
- Fixed an issue where the taskbar could display fully transparent on secondary monitors.
- Fixed an issue that caused certain applications, such as Firefox, to have no audio after upgrading to previous flight. This issue also affected the ability to record audio in Microsoft Edge.
- Fixed an issue where surround sound headphones would revert to stereo after reboot.
- Fixed an issue in the audio service around application impersonation that was breaking the audio recording of applications like Firefox that were intentionally running with a restricted token.
- "Fixed a couple of issues that caused the audiosrv and audioendpointbuilder audio services to crash which would cause audio to not work or new audio devices not to be recognized."
- Fixed an issue that caused Hearthstone to fail to start on the previous build.
- Fixed an issue that could cause fullscreen games to hang at minimum or exit fullscreen state unexpectedly.
- Fixed an issue where the emoji panel search would not work in desktop applications (Win32).
- Fixed an issue where the input dropdown menu would not appear the first time you press WIN + Space.
- Fixed a memory leak in NisSrv.exe from the previous flight.
- Fixed an issue where MsMpEng.exe could unexpectedly use a large amount of disk I/O per second for a long time.
- Fix an issue where WerFault.exe could increase to 50% + CPU for an unexpectedly long time.
- Fixed an issue from previous flight where touch and stylus did not work on the non-primary screen. This may also have caused mouse, touch, and pen input to not happen in the correct place after an orientation change or when using a non-native aspect ratio.
- Fixed an issue when using the Arabic touch keyboard, where pressing Ctrl would not show the directional markers on the Shift keys.
- Fixed an issue where the emoji panel search would not work in desktop applications (Win32).
- Fixed an issue where the input dropdown menu would not appear the first time you press WIN + Space.
- "Fixed an issue where the OneNote app would not be included in Cortana notifications Pick up where I left off."
- Fixed an issue on certain PCs where using the fingerprint scanner would not wake the PC from connected standby.
- Fixed an issue where you might appear to be connected to the network, but you wouldn't actually be connected to use the Internet.
- Fixed an issue where, in certain cases, USB devices with unreliable connections could cause PC check errors (GSODs).
- Fixed an issue from previous flight where touch and stylus did not work on the non-primary screen. This may also have caused mouse, touch, and pen input to not happen in the correct place after an orientation change or when using a non-native aspect ratio.
- Fixed an issue where some Bluetooth devices would not work and Device Manager would give error 43 for those drivers.
Known Issues
- Fixed two issues that could result in some PCs being bug checked (GSOD) when entering Connected Standby. If I had a laptop that ran into this, the experience would have been that it would open your laptop and unexpectedly log you into a new session, instead of continuing the one that was open before you closed the lid.
- Preparing for the inclusion of OpenSSH Server as a deployment mechanism in Developer Mode.
- When you open the task view immediately after an update, the timeline may not be visible. If you encounter this, wait 15-30 minutes and try starting Task View again.
- Windows Defender icon is missing from the system tray, even if it shows as enabled in Settings.
- Certain devices may hang on the home screen after the update. If this happens to you, go into the BIOS and disable virtualization.
- Apps that come pre-installed with Windows may fail to update in the Store with error 0x80073CF9.
- Microsoft Edge audio playback sometimes becomes silent unexpectedly. A workaround is to minimize Edge, count to three, and then remove the minimum.
- "Updating to builds 17063 or later sometimes causes Settings / Privacy / Microphone, Camera, etc. to disabled, which cuts off access to the camera and microphone. A workaround is to manually re-enable them. ."
