Don't like getting the constant notifications from the SmartScreen filter? We tell you how to deactivate it
Table of contents:
Windows 10 marked a before and after for Windows. A comprehensive renewal of which we recently received its latest update, the one we all know as Windows 10 Creators Update. And we are already looking forward to the next one, which will take place in autumn.
The truth is that with Windows 10 came many improvements which have been increasing with the passing of updates News oriented above all to the improvement of the system, which is more stable, more reliable, but also more secure. And one of the novelties that came with Windows 10 was SmartScreen.
SmartScreen is a filter that helps you identify websites reported as phishing or malware. It also helps you decide what to do with your downloads, which it does in three different ways:
- When you browse the Internet, the filter scans pages and determines if they might be suspicious. And when it runs into one it shows us a notice to provide feedback and where it alerts us to the risk.
- Acting as a dynamic list of reported _phishing_ and malware sites to check the sites you visit. If we find any of them, the system displays a warning warning of the risk.
- Comparing files you download from the Internet against a list of reported software and malicious programs known to be untrusted. And again, SmartScreen tells us about it.
This is an interesting function, no doubt about it, but not everyone likes it, especially users who have greater control of the places where you have more or less risk when browsing (remember, if an antivirus is good, common sense is even better).
Therefore, we can run the risk of running into that annoying (sometimes) blue screen of Windows more than we wish. However it is not a function that we necessarily have to have activated and removing it is extremely easy.
To deactivate Smartscreen we can do it in two ways. The first is from Settings where we will navigate to Updates & Security."
Once inside we will go to Windows Defender in the left bar."
"Once inside we access Open Windows Defender Security Center where we find a list on the left, where we must press the icon from the screen. ."
And almost at the end we can choose between Activate or deactivate the Microsoft Edge SmartScreen filter."
Disable on Edge
"In Microsoft Edge we can access Settings by means of the three points. We go down in the list and we _click_ on Advanced Configuration."
We go down the list again to almost the end and see an option called Protect my PC against downloads and malicious sites with the Windows Defender SmartScreen filter . There we can activate or deactivate it to our liking."
A few simple steps with which facilitate navigation on our computer via Microsoft Edge if we do not want to have periodic warnings about security of our team. Of course, you should be careful of the sites you browse.
