Going from Windows 10 S to Windows 10 Pro is very easy but beware
The arrival of the Surface Laptop was something that caught many users by surprise. The market was expecting a Surface Pro 5 (we didn't see the new Surface Pro until May 23) and was met with a laptop and a new operating system. Windows 10 S was the option chosen by Microsoft to compete with Chrome OS.
An option that seeks to have everything under control, allowing the user only to install and use applications from the Windows Store. An option that has raised the complaining voices of some sectors and users who do not see it favorably.A problem to which, on the other hand, a solution is offered: if you don't like Windows 10 S you can switch to Windows 10 Pro.
It is a way to not be limited to just installing the programs available in the Windows Store You could thus make use of programs from third-party developers as has been done up to now. An update that will be priced at $49.99, although it will be free until December 31 and that Windows Central explains how it can be done.
A step that as usual (no matter what operating system we are talking about) advises making or having a backup copy of our files in case a failure or problem occurs during the process.
We begin the steps that are the same as those we carried out to go from Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Pro. And after having our data safe, configure a restore point in case we need to return to a previous point these are the steps to follow:
"Enter System Configuration, a space we get to from Windows Start."
Once inside, look for the section Updates and security."
"Once inside, look for the Activation option and then go to Go to the Store on the right side of the screen."
At that moment we will see if we have to pay or not to start using Windows 10 Pro. Then click on the Install or Buy button(if paid) and after a notice alerting us about the backup, the process begins."
In the photos we see the screen to switch to Windows 10 Pro from Windows 10 S and Windows 10 Home.
A series of steps that take a few minutes and after which our equipment will restart so that when we return to the our team will see how we can now make use of Windows 10 Pro and third-party applications.
You might get a PC running Windows 10 S and then find yourself falling short. In this case, this option is a more than interesting possibility, although the specifications of our computer may not allow us to obtain performance in line depending on which applications, as it may It wasn't originally intended for them.
