Windows Vista is history and from today it will no longer receive updates
Today is the day marked by many as the arrival of the great Windows spring update. Yes, the Creators Update starts rolling out today unless you have used alternative methods to get hold of it. But we already warned you at the time, and it is that today Windows Vista also says goodbye to us.
One of the versions of Windows that has generated the most negative comments reaches the end of its life cycle with the end of support by from Microsoft. So the time has come to say goodbye to a version of Windows with its strengths and weaknesses and that was the prelude to Windows 7, a more mature version of the system.
This way follows in the wake of what happened a long time ago with Windows XP, which stopped receiving updates three years ago . This means that users will no longer receive patches with improvements and updates so that they find themselves with a more vulnerable and less stable system. It is something like if Microsoft gave us a push to switch to a more modern version of Windows.
A step that is not expected can stop bothering, although and if we think about it it is more than logical. The reason is clear and it is that a company, in this case Microsoft, does not find it interesting and profitable to support several systems with the consumption of resources ( economic, personnel…) that this entails. They prefer to focus on the most modern versions in which to offer a better user experience.
Windows Vista therefore ceases to receive support 10 years after its release (it debuted in January 2007). A discontinuation of support support that now includes security updates that are part of extended support, which is to be differentiated from mainstream support that already had ceased since 2012.
Since the arrival of Windows Vista, criticism has not ceased and they were very harsh with the Microsoft system. Personally, it is something that I do not share and that is that even now there is an old HP Pavilion with Vista at home that has improved its performance over time by making it much more stable.
It's true that it had flaws (I still remember how the Aero interface consumed resources that many of us had to disable) but it also had some virtues, being the bridge between Windows XP and Windows 7, two versions compared to which Vista was the black sheep.
Therefore Windows Vista says goodbye and although it will continue to work forever, now it does leave our computers a little more unprotected. If you want to continue with a secure system you can upgrade to Windows 7 but don't get too fond of it, since it is no longer supported by standard and will suffer the same fate as vista in 2020.
