Build 14385 Reaches Fast Ring Insiders as the Anniversary Update Approaches
We start strong on Monday and we do it with new Builds to the satisfaction of the members of the Microsoft Insider program. In this case, a version that reaches the users that make up the fast ring and does so after an atypical week in terms of release rate.
Let's remember that the week we just left behind only left with us the arrival of Build 14383 and especially the promise for new Builds in the week we are now in... getting closer and closer on August 2.
This time the notice, again by Dona Sarkar on her Twitter account alerts us about the release of Build 14385 , being striking that it is the first Build that is released in a weekend.
In it a large number of corrections that indicate that we are getting closer to the final release of the Anniversary Update, especially due to the rate of releases we are seeing. We are going to review what are the novelties and improvements that it brings.
Bugs that are fixed in the PC version:
- Fixed the problem where a pop-up ad appeared saying that the Windows license would expire on July 7th.
- Improved battery life for Surface devices.
- Fixed an issue that caused Spotify to stop working when playing.
- Fixed an issue that caused the Chrome window to be clipped at the top when maximizing.
- Blue screens of death will no longer occur when using a device as a wireless access point
- The display of the dialog window for entering the PIN has been fixed.
- Fixed an issue that caused the LastPass and AdBlock extensions for Microsoft Edge to not display context menus.
- Autodiscovery is disabled by default so we will have to go to Settings > System > Project to this computer and check ?Windows computers and phones can project to this computer when you tell them to? to ?Always available? or ?Always available on secure networks?.
Bugs that are fixed in the mobile version:
- You can now interact with PDFs opened with Microsoft Edge.
- Improved the battery life of equipment such as Lumia 830, Lumia 930 or Lumia 1520.
- The problem where renaming the SIM could fail has been fixed.
Bugs that retained in the PC version:
- A fix in the Hyper-V firmware causes errors when starting virtual machines running Windows Server 2016 Tech Preview 5 with Secure Boot enabled. A fix for TP5 is in development, but due to update timing, the Insider Preview will be released before the TP5 patch arrives. Meanwhile, if we try to load a new TP5 virtual machine with secure boot, it will fail. The solution is to disable Secure Boot during this period.
- If this build is installed on a computer that does not have the EN-US language, we may have problems with the ?for developers? option, which throws the error 0x80004005. One way to fix it is:
- Search Settings > System
- Click on Apps and Features
- Click Manage Optional Features
- Click on Add a feature
- Select the package ?Windows Development Mode?
- Click on Install
- Restart the system
- Run a cmd with administrator permissions
- Run ?sc config debugregsvc start=auto? (without quotes)
Bugs that retained in the mobile version:
- The audio recorder app may not show up as an option to record calls.
- Keyboard does not appear consistently in Microsoft Edge InPrivate mode
Has this Build arrived yet and if so, what are your first impressions?
