There are several things that have convinced me to finally join the Microsoft Insiders program and give my Smartphone a new look: the new Groove Musica application, the feature shortcuts available in the notifications window, increased customization available from system settings, UI improvements, addition of Microsoft Edge as default web browser, increased integration of cloud-based services or being able to take advantage of universal applications.

What are some steps to follow to update your Lumia phone?

Recovering Windows Phone 8.1

To be able to go back you must download Windows Device Recovery Tool, desktop software for Windows 7 or higher. Once you launch the application you will have to connect your phone, click on the image that will appear below with the Lumia model connected and, finally, indicate that you want to reinstall the previous Microsoft final software (Windows Phone 8.1).

What should you do before migrating back to your old operating system? Make a backup copy of all the information stored on your Smartphone: in my case I have only been concerned about storing the photos and videos taken with the Lumia 1520 on my PC .

The software download for my Smartphone was 1.57GB, so it took me a half hour to get it. After that, dumping the new operating system to the Lumia 1520 took no more than a few minutes.
