Microsoft releases build 10576 of Windows 10 for PC
Table of contents:
As promised this morning, today marks the first time Microsoft has released new builds of Windows 10 for PCs and mobiles on the same day. The new build for mobile phones has been available for a few hours, whose new features focus on improving performance and battery life, so now it is the turn of the new build of Windows 10 for PCs.
This is build number 10576, and unlike the mobile build, this does contain several new features regarding the version above (in addition to the ever-present performance improvements and bug fixes).Let's take a look at the new features of this build for PCs.
Media streaming from Microsoft Edge
Microsoft Edge now lets you stream video, images, and audio to any device that supports Miracast and DLNA .
To do this, simply open a web page with multimedia content (for example, YouTube, Facebook albums, streaming music from Spotify), press the …> button"
The only limitation is that you cannot stream protected content, such as Netflix streaming.
"Ask Cortana>"
"The functionality of asking Cortana>in PDF documents viewed within Edge."
Xbox beta for Windows 10 is updated
"Microsoft is releasing a beta version of the Xbox app for Windows 10, intended for anyone who wants to test new unfinished features before they are available in the stable app. "
Among the novelties that this application offers in its current state is the possibility of finding friends on Xbox Live from Facebook, being able to record our voice along with video game videos, and the possibility of buying games from Xbox One directly from the Windows 10 app.
Issues fixed in this build
- Fixed a memory leak that led to the Xbox app consuming several GB of RAM when adding Win32 games to the game list (Win32 games are those that are not installed via the Windows Store, such as Portal, Age of Empires, LOL, etc).
- Performance improvements are applied to the Hyper-V nested virtualization system that was introduced in build 10565.
- The display of text in other languages in the Windows interface has been improved.
- The Windows search box should now work without problems, even if we are in a location where Cortana is not available.
Known Issues
- Missed call notifications and Cortana SMS sending no longer work with the previous build, so an upgrade to this build will be required to use these features.
- When a notification of any kind appears, audio playing in the background will be reduced in volume by 75% for a moment. "
- After upgrading to this build, Skype messages and contact will disappear from the messaging app.To solve this we can go to
C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Messaging_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache and delete or rename the file PrivateTransportId, and then restart the messaging application."
- Small tablets whose primary orientation is portrait (such as the HP Stream 7 or Dell Venue 8 Pro) will display a blue screen when upgrading to this build, and will revert to the previous build.
- It may happen that when installing this build on the Surface Pro 3, the power button will change its behavior and turn the computer off instead of putting it to sleep.
- Support for WebM and VP9 has been temporarily disabled in Microsoft Edge, but will return in future builds.
