Tip: see which applications consume the most battery and data in Windows 10

Windows 10 has inherited 2 very interesting features that were previously only available on Windows Phone. We refer to the WiFi sensor and the battery sensor, two small tools that seek to help us to better manage mobile data and energy usage, collecting useful information and automatically taking action to save resources.

Among the useful data provided by these sensors are the 2 lists that can be seen in the image above. One of them tells us which applications have incurred the most data transfers, and exactly how much data they have transferred during the last 30 days. To access this information we just have to go to Settings > Network and Internet > Data use. There it will show the total data transferred in the last month, and by clicking on Usage details we can see the figure broken down by application.

The other interesting list is the energy consumption according to application. To get to it we have to go to Settings > System > Battery saving > Battery usage .

Once there, we are allowed to choose for which period we want the energy usage information to be displayed: last 24 hours, last 48 hours, or last weekAlso breaks down power consumption by system, display, or WiFi connectivity, or by foreground or background app usage (background consumption figure only takes into account modern applications, or store).

The list of applications will appear below, ordered from highest to lowest consumption during the selected period. For modern apps, it will also indicate whether or not they are allowed to run in the background.

"

Also, clicking an app and then clicking the Details>button permission to run in the background for most of the time and/or when power saving is active battery (it is normal that when the battery saver mode is activated, the use in the background of most applications is deactivated)."
