How to use Google Calendar from the Windows 10 Calendar app
With Windows 10 support for Google Calendar accounts is finally available again , after it has been suspended in Windows 8 due to conflicts between Microsoft and Google.
Thanks to this, the Calendar application that comes pre-installed in the system allows us to add multiple Google accounts, and thus synchronize their corresponding calendars, and access them even when we do not have an internet connection.
To add Google calendars to the Calendar application in Windows 10, just follow these steps:
- "Open the Calendar application (go to Start menu/Cortana > type Calendar > click on the first result that will appear)"
- Go to Calendar settings (by clicking on the gear icon, in the lower left corner) "
- Select the option Accounts in the panel that will appear on the right"
"Click the Add Account button at the bottom of the left panel."
-
A new window will appear asking us for the type of account we want to add. Select the option Google account.
-
We enter the Google credentials, and click accept. If we want we can repeat the last steps to add more Google accounts.
And ready. The synchronization of these calendars is complete, which means that we can edit the events in Google calendars, or also create new events, and all those changes will be reflected on the Google Calendar website(and vice versa), and also on mobile devices that access those calendars (including iOS or Android).
All events created in Google will appear in Windows 10 Calendar, and vice versa. Other changes made in either of the 2 places will also be synced. How to hide the calendars we don't want to see
"By default all existing calendars will be displayed in the Google accounts that we just added. If we want to show only some calendars, in order to have a less overloaded view, we can do it in the options panel on the right (if we do not see this panel, we can make it appear by pressing the hamburger button> "
By scrolling to the bottom of this panel we can see a complete list of all available calendars, grouped according to the account to which that correspond. To hide the events of one of them, simply uncheck the checkbox located to the left of the calendar.
This will not delete the calendar itself, it will just keep it hidden so we can more easily see the events in the other calendars .
How to change the color of calendars
The Windows 10 app, like almost all calendar applications, assigns a different color to each calendar so we can differentiate between its events.
If we don't like the colors assigned by default, we can change them simply by going to the panel on the left, right-clicking on a calendar, and choosing a new color (there are 9 to choose from).
"Also, if we find that the available colors are too soft, Windows 10 lets you change the color palette to a more intense one Simply you have to go to Settings > Calendar options and there scroll down until you see the section Calendar color options."
"Note: Windows 10 Calendar also supports the iCloud Calendar service, used on Macs and iOS devices. The steps to configure it are exactly the same, except that in the Choose an account window>"
