How to change the color of windows in Windows 10
Table of contents:
In Windows 10, Microsoft has sought to make customization make the system simpler and easier to apply, by unifying almost all options of this type in a section of the Settings app From there you can change the background and also the system accent color.
However, something that has annoyed some users is that the accent color we choose is not applied to title bars windows, just as it did in Windows 8, but they are always white, no matter what color is selected.
Luckily, there is a way to change that, but it's relatively complex. That is why here we will explain it step by step, to leave no doubts about it. Let's see how to do it.
Step by Step: How to Make Title Bars Use Windows 10 Accent Color
-
We must open the File Explorer and go to the path:
C:\Windows\Resources\Themes
-
"Once there, select the aero folder, copy it (pressing CTRL + C)"
-
Then we paste the folder in the same directory in which we are. To do this we click on a blank area of the explorer and press CTRL + V.
-
"We will see a warning box like the following. We click Continue."
- Then a window will appear saying that we need permissions to complete the action. Check the box ">Omit.
-
"
- The end result will be a folder named aero - copia>"
-
"
Now we open the folder color>aero.msstyles (if we have configured the Explorer not to show the file extensions, its name will be simply aero). "
-
"
We must select it and change its name to color.msstyles (or color, if we have hidden extensions). A warning box will appear, and there we click Continue."
-
"
Later, we open the folder in - US (or the corresponding language, it has worked for me with that despite having Windows 10 in Spanish), located inside the same color folder."
-
"
There you have to select the file aero.msstyles.mui>color.msstyles.mui. If a Windows warning appears, press Continue."
-
Then go back to the
C:\Windows\Resources\Themes
directory. There we will find a file called aero.theme. You have to copy and paste it on the Desktop. -
Once on the Desktop, select the aero.theme file and rename it to color.theme.
-
"Then right click on color.theme, and select the Open with option."
-
"
A window will appear asking which application we want to open the file with. Select Notepad (if it does not appear as an option, we can search for it by clicking More applications)."
-
When opening the file with Notepad, we should see something like this:
You have to scroll down within the notepad until you reach the section
- Within that section, select the line
Path=%ResourceDir%\Themes\Aero\Aero.msstyles
and replace it with this one:Path=%ResourceDir%\Themes\color\color.msstyles. We close the notepad and save the changes.
-
"
We are almost at the end. All that remains is to cut the modified color.theme file from the Desktop (select it and press CTRL + X) and paste it into the
folder C:\Windows\Resources\Themes If a Windows warning box appears, click Continue."
-
The last step is to activate the new theme. To do this, double-click the color.theme file in the Themes folder.
"The display will show a Waiting message…> Personalization > Background ."
How to change the accent color
As we said, now all windows will use the Windows accent color, but… how do we change that color? Windows 10 allows you to do this easily in its Settings app. Just go to Settings > Personalization > Colors , uncheck the box ">select any of the colors that appear below
"The only problem with this option is that, although Windows 10 provides many color options, it does not allow us to choose between all possible colors. To be able to adjust the color in a more personalized way we have to resort to the old Windows 8 color picker, which is hidden, but can be invoked>." "
Just press WIN + R to open the Run window, and there type Control Color and press OK."
"This will bring up a window like the following, from where it is possible to play>"
Note: It is NOT possible to use windows with different colors at the same time. The first image in this tutorial corresponds to a composition made with several different screenshots.
