Will these be the prices for Windows 10 OEM licenses?
Although Windows 10 will be offered as a free upgrade to Windows 7 and 8.1 users for the first year after At launch, this does not mean the operating system will be free for everyone For example, manufacturers of equipment larger than 10 inches will still have to pay to purchase licenses, and those unable to take advantage of the free upgrade offer will need to purchase an upgrade license .
Until now Microsoft has not revealed what the price of these licenses will be, but the NewEgg portal has published what appears to be a leak of these figures.According to this online sales site, Home and Pro editions of Windows 10 OEM will cost $109.99 and $149.99 , respectively.
The filtered prices correspond to OEM licenses, aimed at small manufacturers and users who build their own PCs "The fact that it is an OEM version implies that this will be the price that will be charged to small manufacturers and people who assemble their own equipment ( and that therefore, cannot benefit from the promotion of free updates). These licenses are generally cheaper than those of the free-use (Full) versions, since when they are installed on a PC they are linked to it, with no possibility of transferring it to another computer."
If the information published by NewEgg turns out to be correct, the price of Windows 10 OEM licenses would be slightly higher than Windows 8.1(99.99 and 139.99 dollars, in its Home and Pro versions).
According to the same page, the launch of Windows would take place at the end of August, but other reliable sources say that it is still planned for July.In addition, the NewEgg page mentions a product release date: August 31 However, Paul Thurrott claims that the latter information would be wrong, and that Windows 10 is still scheduled to be released at the end of July (as pointed out by the Russian leaker WZor).
It remains to be seen if the values provided by NewEgg are officially confirmed, along with knowing what the prices of the Windows 10 Full and Upgrade licenses will be, which, as we said above, have different characteristics than the licenses OEM.
