So you can use WhatsApp from your PC even if you have your phone turned off with the new multi-device mode
Table of contents:
It has taken time, but finally one of the most anticipated functions by many users has come true. WhatsApp can now be used on multiple devices simultaneously. It is the expected multi-device WhatsApp support that has begun to reach to the first users and so you can activate it.
The multi-device mode of WhatsApp can now be tested by all those who are part of the beta program. A support that allows to link our mobile with up to four additional devices (for now mobile phones do not fit) to be able to continue using WhatsApp and continue chatting.
Chat from the PC with the mobile off
Multi-device support is now available as a test in WhatsApp beta. After a long wait, this functionality is reaching the first users who make use of the application and who have been chosen by the company. These users can already chat from the PC with the mobile phone turned off through the browser, since for now, support for using it on other mobiles is not supported.
To check if you are one of those that already has multi-device support, just go to Settings and then enter the section Linked devices (or WhatsApp Web) and check if the new option appears Use WhatsApp on other devicesIf it appears, you just have to scan the code that appears on the web.whatsapp.com"
Once linked, you just have to access this link and we will see how all our chats appear. In addition, and for those who are more vigilant with security, WhatsApp reports that our chats are not stored in the cloud and that they will be end-to-end encrypted on all our devices . After 14 days of inactivity, the device is unpaired for security reasons.
If we already have access to multi-device mode, we can continue chatting with our contacts even if we have our mobile turned off. Not like now, when the mobile has to be connected to be able to synchronize with our WhatsApp.
For now, this option is only available to those who are part of the WhatsApp beta, but hopefully we'll see a rollout over the next few weeks progressive and that WhatsApp's multi-device support gradually begins to reach more users until it is extended to all users before the end of the year.
